Understanding The Formula Chart : Basics


The formula chart relates a Number to EVERY note on the guitar. There are 12 Notes on the guitar that consist of 7 natural notes and 5 enharmonic notes...

Major (R, 3, 5)

C, CM, Cmaj

Minor (R, b3, 5)

Cm, Cmin

Diminished (R, b3, b5)

Cdim, C°, C-3-5

Over the last two years or so I've had the privilege of befriending one of the best musicians I've ever heard. A guy that was so open to me when I was just starting out on guitar, and is always there to give me a word of advice on guitar related issues. A virtuoso in a land filled with one handed, seven stringed tuned to B hacks that couldn't tune his guitar. That guy is Terry Lauderdale, and let me just say it's been a pleasure Terry.
