Favorite SoundFonts

What are your favorite SoundFonts for different sounds?

I've only been making tracks for a weekend, but I've already learned that there are thousands of different SoundFonts out there. It's hard to know which ones are good, and it's clear that different fonts work well in different situations.

I thought it might be helpful to start a thread on "favorite" SoundFonts. Which ones do people tend to use a lot?

The main types of Fonts for guitar backing tracks are obviously drums and bass, so maybe we could start with those? Then there are obviously a ton of others (keys, strings, winds, brass, etc).

I have yet to find a good bass Font for rock songs...there are a few "jazz basses" that are passable, but nothing's blowing my mind. What's your favorite?

the nsj bass is not too bad, ive found doubling up different drums/basses really add to the depth of the whole backing by giving each piece of kit a fuller sound and theres not 1 soundfont that has it all

for bass say double up with the nsj bass & pretes_thumbs bass, once ya got both of them in yer editor add a volume envelope to each track, also adding compression helps to giv it a boost too

drums - the power kits are good combined with some of the live kits

all from hammersounds apart from the nsj bass

a good gm font is the gm3

download the podgod package, its got the links and synthfont stuff, hammersounds has got shedloads of soundfonts

also ive found the velocity mixer sliders to improve the kits outputs, select mixer from the view menu, and where the main track grid is thers a small arrow button to select what the mixer slider does, volume and velocity are the 2 best options ther aswell as the transpose

I don't know if anyone here has tried this drum SF2, but I've found it to be quite useful. It was made with a flat eq setting and there is no effects on it. I found it on the net while doing some research the other day. I haven't seen it in any of the popular soundfont sites.

There is a version of it for several different samplers, or whatever you call those things. Hope someone finds these useful. Also, according to the author of the soundfont, there is no restrictions to the use of this soundfont.

Ive just got into using Fruity Loops properly with these SF2 soundclips - boy its great.

Heres what I use

Drums
Drumset - a great sounding kit and the best I've found - better than Drums by Slavo in my opinion.

Bass
NS J-Bass - Simply ~Awesome - around 8 different bass sounds in the pack.

Orchestra
Fluid R3 - lots of different sounds in this package - Strings are particularly nice as are the piano's. Also Strings Beautiful Lyrical is a good set of slow strings.

Brass
Bolland Brass Section - The best I've heard.

Guitar
Well, midi has a hard time emulating the guitar to be honest, but the best package Ive come across is Studio FG460s II Pro Guitar Pack.

Would it not be possible to save SF2 files in a .zip folder and post it up here in a thread?
