FL Studio 5 Producer Edition

I have just reinstalled FL Studio 5 again after a year of not bothering with it. I put it back on as i had became interested again in making my own BT's.
Sometime ago on this exact site was a perfect tutorial which showed you how after importing a midi file, playing it and changing certain aspects of that file to make it more professional sounding.
I have since lost this page and have been trying to find it again but most pages have since been moved on.
Can anyone tell me how to after importing a midi file to extract or remove certain instruments from it. As when you import any midi file into FL studio there is no sound except when using sytrus. However i want to know when the file loads wup what bank has what inside it before removing and if need be replacing the bank with a more appropriate sound.
Any help please.
Thankyou

Hey thanks for that!!!
Question?
I followed the instructions and downloaded a couple of drum fonts and saved them in the way directed but when ever i assign these fonts to the part which contains the drums there is no sound and the original drums get replaced but there is no drum sound at all? so the rest of the midi track plays but there are no drums? Any advice what i might be doing wrong.

I'm not sure?

If you followed the tutorial it should have worked.

It's been a while since I've used FL so I'm not real sure, but I do remember buying the Soundfont player add-on. I don't know if I did that to get them to work or just to be able to save the project with the soundfonts.

Have you got any other soundfonts to play?

I have been unable to get any soundfonts to play? What do you mean do you have to buy a soundfont player as well? I thought this was standard in FL Studio.
It makes no difference what site these sound fonts are downloaded from once they are assigned to my project they don't play and the original instrument has been removed.
But thanks for the reply i will get some more info on this.
Thankyou

Maybe you should try and download the FL Studio 8 demo and try that. Its completely free and the only limitation is that you can't save a project and return to it later(but you can still export your songs to MP3 or WAV).

The sound font player is there in my edition but so far i have downloaded a number of soundfonts of various descriptions but when these sound fonts are dragged to the project there is no sound.
Also if say for instance i have a midi file and have imported this and would like to put a set of drums in the piece where there are no drums where do i go to add these and sequence each percussive instrument.
I am slowly getting to grips with this software and finding it very exciting as there are many things i have in mind but it is the sound fonts that are the reall pain in the back side
