Thumbs up

Removing vocals?

Hi guys.

You guys are a bunch of pro guitar-removing dudes here and have created a hell lots of quality guitar backings.

Any idea how I can do the same for vocals? I need to remove them so I can sing over it.

Thanks a bunch.

Actually, they're backing tracks made by members here. I haven't heard of anyone removing the guitars from an existing recorded track. Typically they'd sequence or edit a midi track, then replace instrument tracks with soundfonts; of course, that's just a very basic method. Others record certain tracks with real audio and intruments.

There are some software on the market which will allow you to remove at least 80% of a track but this much depends on how the track was recorded at the studio and how it was mixed down.
There is no 100% way of totally removing vocals from a track as there would still be some trace of the vocal/s there. If any one or company tells you Different then show them this thread get them to contact me as i would like to hear the proof. Take it from me this is impossible.
The only other way is the original studio demo before any mix down happened as the bare track would have had no vocals and these would have been added later and then remixed but the chances you getting that are nil.
Don't waste money on software which states that it can remove vocals fully from a recording if this is so then contact the company offering the software get them to send you a demo version that will allow you to add any track you wanted to remove vocals from. I will bet you they will not reply or make up some excuse which still might tempt you to buy like if not 100% happy a full refund don't fall for it.
I did just this and the company to whom i cannot name sent me the software to try but there was a snag it would not let me choose an image of my own and instead offered me preloaded audio images. The software was awful hence i never paid for it and deleted it.
