Here's my take. Sorry for the delay, just got up from bed. Got to go to work tonight on a 12-hour shift.
Rez, your take is pretty cool. Good luck to you!

my vote is for gtarx. nice work it sounded good, maybe needed a little space though. silenece can be killer for blues stuff, knowing where to leave gaps is the secret.overall very good well done .
rez you have some good chops, but to my ears the whole song was out of key with the backing from start to finish. i mean no offence but i think we should all be TACTFULLY honest with each other here so we can all improve. i look forward to hearing more from you both. well done guys.....chris

hey chris ,(watson???)i'm glad you were honest but here's the thing, i knew exactly which key the backing was in,i even discussed this with gtarxtrm before the battle, and improvising to it i was aware of what i was doing ,
i hate to bring the theory in (my guitar was tuned down 1/2 step so all the notes i mention here sound half a step lower in my take) anyhow i did the simple parts of my improvisation in E ,having 4 of 5 exact same sharp notes of B (The backing bassline) so moving root-4-5 falls perfectly in place because i started with the 4th degree and moving to root i played the 7b5th of it(read below)
in addition to E,
on the parts with 3 and 4 string fast picking i used the Bm7 in addition to the flat 5th(same key as the backing) on the 7th chords , now imagine you want to do an arpeggio in Bm7b5 what will be your base note ? E, and thats exactly what i was doing ,blues players do this all the time SRV being a good example . if this is too confusing try to imagine the patterns of Bm7b5 you will see that it easily falls into a simple E pattern on 12th position (i hit A & D and pull them together),so having the bass hit Bb you can cover the added 6th degrees aswell playing the 7thm ,its quite simple... ok this is getting too long. ......

Good job and nice tone by both- I had to go with gtrxtrm as well though- your theory may be sound rezz, but as far as what is pleasing to the ear and "fits" with the backing, the notes that are in question would probably be more pleasing sonically if they were used sparingly. Just noe opinion though!!!

its a little like a singer who everyone thinks is out of key, trying to tell you that it technicly fits, but ill stop there (as i mean no offence to you)....
music sounds best when it comes from the heart. the best thing i ever did is to just play what is in my head and not work from theory at all. that way there is no restriction at all,and it makes you play phrases you would otherwise never play the bottom line is ,, if it sounds good it IS good

Wrong Key
Dude, the entire thing is in the wrong key, the playing is good (technically)but if you can't tell it's in the wrong key then you need an ear adjustment. The backing track is in Bb and you're playing C blues. No offense, we all make mistakes.

hoho...(i guess i will change my name to tonedeaf) , 1st off thanx so much for being brutally honest,i'm not offended atall ,i think giving opinion as far as its constructive is a great thing ,for me improvisation is all about going down new paths and as i said above i thought it would be nice give something different and try to follow the 4th degree instead of root but anyway.....and i also thought trying Bbm7th while the backing is in Bb would fit but hey , i know rockonthis is a good musicians so i respect his comment and try to do better next time....
but keep in mind some really nice players here liked my take and it felt ok to thir ear befor chris's comment.and the other new guy (not martin i apprectae his comment) .anyhow
for the guy who was laughing ...i'm glad ,afterall its all about entertainment. welcome to the site...(yes i saw you just registered for a comment)hope to hear your music in the future
for chris....i'm not offended by your singer comment ,but do you know how much time i put into this track? about as long as the backing ,bout 4 min.i stood there and recorded a one take thing so saying that i dont play by heart doesnt really fit.anyhowTHANX for the hints.

rez. first no im not chris watson. and secondly i dont agree with the way some less tactful members here have spoken to you. newyorker if your going to laugh at someone elses work plz dont say it out loud on a forum, it was a little tactless. keep it up rez and im sure you will post some killer tracks soon.trying new things sometimes dont work. but if people never tried out new things, music would be boring and predictable. peace rez.. hope to hear more tracks from you soon... chris

Let's be cool here
Yeah, like the guy said, he was trying something new, geesh, give him a bit of a break. Although I do think all of this competition and Sh&t talking is healthy....I smell some good battles coming up soon. How bout you newyorker??
