TexasAxeSlinger vs WhaWha (In My Dreams-George Lynch Show, Step Inside)
Here is mine. The ending just cuts off, please don't take off points for that I don't know how to fade with my Guitar Tracks Pro Software. I just have to mix each track at one level for the entire song and then export it to a Wave File.
Tone could have been a bit better, but I just don't have a good pc recording set up yet, used the RP7 again as the line 6 flextone III (headphone out) didn't yield good results.
Here it is, enjoy, oh ya and vote for me! I also added a couple ad lib solos at the end of the song where there was a hole for it to do a little of my own style with a "shot" of Lynch mixed in for good luck
Tex
P.S. Finished this at 4:47 am in the morning. Couldn't sleep. I am gonna be tired tomorrow

Here ya go. I'm a BIG Lynch fan but I'm not one for doing stuff note-for-note...more "in the style of". I added a small solo at the end or the thing goes on forever without vocals! Again, it's in keeping with the Lynch sound and style.
Good luck Tex.

Sorry Wah. Tex has this one. I liked his tone a little better and that was the main factor in my decision. I really had to think about it though. Very close call. U both rock.

Well done guys!!!! Mines the best!!!! Only kidding.
You both played some nice improv. at the end. Know what you mean about the tone Tex - to be honest I preferred your earlier version as the levels and tone were better, but a good job all the same. This one goes to wah wah for the smoother playing and nicer mix, tone etc, although your solo was pretty damn close to Mr Lynch's . But get your Flextone sorted and come back for round two

I voted for Wah Wah, I listend to both songs several times. You both did great! I think in this challenge, Wha Wha played the chords cleaner and his notes were well pronounced and the solo was well articulated.

Thanks for the comments.Yeah I did this song earlier and posted it in Covers and got a nice resoponse, the song wasn't as accurate and didn't have all the fills and layering, but the solo was right in your face. I was going to use that but it would have got killed I think,,who knows, maybe it was better.. ha ha
Rocker thanks for the solo comments. I usually try to get it right on, that one fast picking run after the tapping is a bitch and I did it better last attemp I think.
People always vote on the tone, which is cool. I am not a recording expert and can only just play with the gear and recording set up at my disposal, so if you vote on a smooth recording I ain't gonna win.
Thanks for listening. Wah Wah is a cool guy to battle against. Very easy going and cool.
Rock on
Tex

Ilistened to both for awhile. Wah's was more professionally recorded, but I am not voting for a recording battle.
Wha had some nice playing and the solo was great, but Tex's was right on the money and sounded like the George Lynch solo.
Also the ad lib solos were great in Tex's as well, very unique playing. Wha had some good riffs too though.
This was close, but for raw feel and the solo I give it to Texas

Hey Tex,
I really preffered your earlier version and I think it would have stood up well against wahwah's (probably edged it). I know you worked late on this one ( ), but I think it kinda showed a little. To me it just didn't seem to flow as much as your last version. Still a great effort and the solo definately rocked - Keep 'em coming, I wanna hear some more

The last version was 2 tracks. Rhythm with all the fills added while i was playign the rhtym, no multi tracking them at all. And then the solo was 2 takes. I just listened to the OLD version. Sounds so much cleaner and tight, especially the solo. But thi sone ain't THAT shabby, is it....
Remember in that version I played Don Dokken's vocal as a melody on guitar the entire song, so I guess there was another track in there as well.
So much for busting your ass at 4 am LOL. I was up anyway and couldn't sleep anyway. It is better to just go with the raw playing sometimes instead of trying too hard. Wha's was so well recorded I figured I couldn't just post my older raw version. The solo was even better on my old version, at least sound wise.
Maybe I will post it up and have a battle agasnt myself on the same song and see who wins that would be interesting wouldn't it

Not sure who just voted, but Thanks. I don't always post a reply either, but it is nice to see the comments. Not a lot of replys, just votes which is fine.
Sometimes these battles are so damn close or it is so subjeective that it is hard to pick so you just vote and you feel bad for the other guy you didn't pick . other times it is pretty easy to choose
