Nice stuff from both parties, had to give a few listens and then take a break and listen some more. Finally settled on B&G. Just from gut reaction.

Them's fightin words

Sounds like you're barking up my tree little man, how would you like to challenge me to a battle?

But seriously, dude, I'm not trying to put down your stuff and all but I feel like sometimes the environment on this board is so over supportive that it sometimes seems fake, people need constructive criticism from time to time not to always be told "that was aweeEEesome dude". Not every take is great, sometimes it has to be done over again and again to get it right. Not to mention that you took my comments out of context, you think that I don't know that some of the best moments in music are improvised? I do but you were saying it in terms of an excuse as in "Give me a break, I did this is one take", and I really don't feel like that's a valid excuse. You don't come to a gunfight with a half loaded gun do you? Anyway, I'm not trying to pick on you, yours was pretty good. Just puttin in my 2 cents, trust me I know how hard it is and how long it takes to master the guitar (not that I'm a master by any means). Happy playing.

no I didnt take it like that. You offered insight and it is appreciated. That is the point of the forum. I look forward to constructive critism. I would prefer the honesty. I agree that not every take is great I have a computer full of them. I have found that some of the things I recorded a few years back sound just god awful now but I saved them then for some reason. I don't even know if my post is really a what you would call true blues tune... just something I played...
I thought it would be fun and it was..and it is. But yes I would prefer constructive critism as to no replys at all. And I do agree that sometimes people post the "that was awesome dude" to files that I think oh my god I wouldn't have posted that..and in turn I bet when I posted my original they're were some that thought Oh my god that sucked..but they didn't offer input.
If I offended or took you out of context then I offer my apologies.

Peace and Love Brutha

I keep my old stuff just to hear if I'm improving. It's a good measure of ones progress. Were all guitarists here, it's a brotherhood my man.

it was a good battle. Really liked B&G's post. As far as the "one take" issue, i don't normally do "one takers" but this one just felt right. Sometimes you can do trax over and over again, but then while add "better notes", lose the feel.

Nice work ...both of you.

I agree with the Rock on the "One take" issue.

I often will record scores by recording a couple or more measures at a time and do several takes and select from which I feel sounds best to me. However, there are ceratin numbers that I cannot see doing in anything but one take. The solo section of Rubina for example (which I'm in the process of recording). I tried to do the solo portion divided into 2 takes, but it just loses it's feel because it begins to sound too fabricated... or too perfect. So looks like I gotta get down to practicing the solo section all in one shot and record it about ...oh let's say... several hundred times hehehe.

Sometimes one take captures the feeling much better. I scrapped my first take on the Rubina solo and it was actually pretty damn good because I played with my own feeling rather than trying to duplicate the Satch. Now I gotta start from scratch when I shoulda kept the original... LOL ..go figure.
