Heart Attack and Vine (Tom Waits Cover)
A cover of Tom Waits' "Heart Attack and Vine" which I constructed from scratch, ( it was actually really easy, since it 's just a progression that repeats throughout the whole track lol ).
It's also the first post on 101 that I am singing lead vocal..................... please don't expect Tom Waits style vocal delivery. I can't recreate his awesome gruff tone but I have tried to sing it with a bit of attitude a la his original. Could Have done with a pop shield though lol lol.
I also really like the Screamin Jay Hawkins version of this song. so there's a bit of that in there too lol.
Interesting side note: The guitarist on Waits' original version was Carlos Guitarlos, guitarist with "Top Jimmy and the Rhythm Pigs", whose singer "Top Jimmy" was the subject of the Van Halen song of the same name!!!

Cool cover! Love this style of Tom Waits tunes.
Loved this. Vocals were great too, but I hear you about the pop filter.
I don't have one either, I just try to back away from the mic a bit when singing B's and P's.

Very impressive indeed , i love that slide guitar , very sleek and warm . I don't know the tune , reminds me of a track by the hoax , i really do like the groove on this one and your voice is superb . Regarding the popping , its easy to make a shield using a pair of your girls stockings wrapped around a circle of wire then Gaffa taped up on yer Mic about 3 ins away from the Mic . Make sure there is nobody wearing them first tho !!!!!!!! great tune

this is amazing!! one of the best and most unexpected covers I have heard here this year!!
Oh and a stocking on an old wire coat hanger will make do as a good pop shield

The slide guitar is cool. Even though you weren't trying to emulate Waits' vocal sound, you captured his feeling and style.
