Steely Dan - Dr Wu - Stingx Style
Here'a another Steely Dan cover. Don't know how well this will go over but it is one of my favorite tunes from this band.
I made the backing and used my Zoom MRS-8 to record the vocals. Tried to give it my best Fagan performance (hold your ears!).

Good job Stingx. Man there aint nothing like picking a hard one to try and play well. Even if you hadnt have done the song justice like you did you would still have my admiration for even attempting it. You've got bigger balls than Buck Rogers Stingx

You really get a big sound out of your recordings. Do you do the piano live or is that programmed?? Sounds excellent. If you're doing a lot of this live, I was thinking maybe you could transpose it into a different key that might be a little more comfortable for you to sing. Overall it's really good. The sax part sounded pretty convincing too.

I learned to play piano before guitar. I still use my older keyboards with new midi ones that I use with Reason and or FL Studio. I have never considered myself a singer and only do so when I cannot find someone else to do the part. I like posting my covers complete. I was very reluctant to post this because I was feeling iffy about the vocals. I did this in stages over several months and I felt the backing came out too good to just drop it.
Thanks for the listens and for the kind words. If anyone would like to take a stab at singing this shoot me a PM.

i really enjoyed it. you did a great job on what seems to me some hard music to play. i love steely dan and you did them justice. vocally you got the style down and and did a pretty good job singing it. it needed a little more volume consistancy on the vocal more than anything. overall this is a great post

Guys, again thanks for the kind words but I think my range is way too limited to take singing seriously. Maybe if I didn't smoke and drink so much I could coax more from the vocal chords I will probably remix this down the road with a friend of mine on vocals. I pretty much know what I can take a stab at and what I should avoid. Sometimes I get a little too ambitious. I scrutinized this one some and think it better suited for one who has a higher range. Anyway, it doesn't mean I didn't enjoy it. I have a blast holed up in my studio and making backings to play and/or sing over. I wish there were others in my area interested in doing a band project. I have tried looking around but nothing panned out properly. That would be something I would love to do again. Oh well. The feedback, as always, is most appreciated. Need to get some others finished up that have been laying on the hd.
