This Charming Man - The Smiths

Ok - they are a bit gay but I love The Smiths - brilliant guitarist and bass even if it is a bit whiny and British

I posted it before with a crappy midi bass line and decided I would have a bash at doing with a real bass. It was a real killer on bass - I probably would have left it well alone had I realised

It's rough but it holds together fairly well considering I never mixed it as such.

Yeah well done mate , i don't like The Smiths but i appreciate they write great pop tunes for the masses and have gotten very rich in the process !!!! . Really complex bass line , but hey this production is cosmic , mixed and produced impeccably . I love those keyboard samples at the end , and your funky Afro rhythm is super cool . gotta award this 5 circles , its that good !!!!!!

did i mention the Vocals ? , well there probably the best thing about this tune , you sound like Morrisey !!!!!!!!! ---------> class

Great! Marc Almond sings The Smiths!!!! Now THAT is gay! Nah, good work mate...I love bass lines like that...bouncy! (tho the bounciest ever is 'Moving' by Supergrass!).

LOve it...has your wit in the voice. And now we can say that a Smith's song has been covered! Next sceduled for 2009!!!

I can't say that I'm familiar with that song or the smiths. Either way I thought you sang and played it very well.

Cool stuff GP.

Fine version here all round, guitar, bass and vocals are all great. Although I don't own any Smiths albums, I am familiar with a lot of their stuff and your cover is spot on!!

Did you do the vocals with a bunch of flowers stuck in the arse pocket of your jeans?!! lol lol.

How about "Heaven Knows I'm Miserable Now" as your next Smiths cover? It's a great song and on hearing your take on this one, I'm sure you'd make an excellent job of it!!!

I dont think I've ever heard the smiths before... I've heard the name plenty of times, and I guess this was an ok tune.
It'll probably grow on me. But I like your original compositions better
Still, great job on this one. Don't get me wrong, I like it.

i don't know who the smiths are either. is it a UK thing like oasis that we aren't familiar with over here? anyway i have always enjoyed everything from you and this is no exception. bass was killer and the vocal was sweet. what more can you ask for.

I used to get that same rhythm guitar sound on my old Yamaha FX-500. Sounds cool man. Never heard the Smiths before so I'm oughta my league here. But this song bounces really cool bro. Total pro job on the Bass man!

Very cool Porty!!! Not really big on the 80's pop stuff, but i do know that the Smiths we're big in the underground circuit. Used to hear all the kids back in the day talking about them, mainly Morrisey...... You really have a way with the Brit pop/punk/new wave styles..... your production is fantastic, playing is great as always!!!! To me, you can do no wrong....whatever you do, stands above most!!!!! Great track mate!!!!
