Let Me Just Say This...
I hooked up to this forum and leeched until I found the seeds drying up- It wasn't intentional, as I needed to reinstall Windows due to ISP issues. Nobody was posting new stuff as quickly as it was being leeched, and that's when I went into action: After a clean install of Windows, in the past week I scoured a portable drive and found odd shows, and started posting.
I've DL'd about 200 boots since I've been a member (5/08), and I've uploaded maybe thirty. In one week. Of those thirty, Megaupload (my fave server) shows over 800 downloads of my 30 posts, not counting the 48+ hours lagtime in accounting.
If we do the math, it seems this place would be one helluva lot more useful if folks would find an oddity and post it. I've found it quite rewarding, as my leech/seed ratio with other sources is usually 1 to .97, but here I also get very good (or not) feedback about my uploads.
My opinion: This forum has far more potential than is today's reality, and we all can fix it easily.
Whatchyall thinka that? Somebody figure out how to make a poll, then ask, "are there too many leeches on this fantastic forum?"

Yes, too many leechers. Worse yet, people can't even say thanks. One show I uploaded (Jimmy Page/Black Crowes 2000.06.28) has been downloaded 296 times, and I got less than 20 thanks.

This forum supposedly has a "thank you" button, right? Where is it? As it is, if you give thanks, it puts the entire thread back at the top of the results.
Someone needs to tutor my dumb ass about how to use this forum: can you screen for brand new threads, or does some Grateful Dead show posted 18 years ago go right to the top of the pile because of a new "thank you"?
Maybe that's why there are so few "thanks"...
3 hours? what kind of LSD is that, Lunacy? Anyway, I don't do it for "thanks". I do it for people that discuss the history, meaning, and gravity of the music.
I get all the thanks I need by looking out how many have downloaded it.

Uploading is as easy as a baby producing snot. I prefer megaupload.com due to fewer policy/cost restrictions, so go there and make an account. Log in, and upload a file (.rar or .zip, 100MB or under). When you begin uploading, the megaupload page gives you a real-time progress report of your upload; when it's completed, it says "99%" and gives you a link to where it is. Copy that link, post it here, and tell all you know about what you uploaded: Band, date, venue, city, source, quality, file format (MP3? FLAC?), musicians' names, what bourbon they were on that day, etc.
Try it once- upload something, see how it performs. This place will be far better, and you'll feel happier knowing how easy it is to upload one new thing while you downloaded three others you've never heard.

I guess I would be considered a "leech". It isn't that I am not willing to share - it's that all the boots I have came from this site or blogs from people who post on this site. So, I just don't have anything to add at this point. If I do run across something in the future, I will try to figure out how to post it on this site. I do, however, always say thanks when I download a boot.

I Have A Code For That!
At KISS ARMY BOOTLEG DEPOT I have combined two seperate "HIDE " "REPLY" CODES TO MAKE THE " ANTI-LEECH LINK PROTECTOR".
What happens( and im sure ya seen it).............a box appears and covers links. Until the person replies with a thanks. This combined with adding text in the second field of "http" hide the link 2 times over.My code also instructs the box to appear before the link as to not make link visible briefly too a slow connection.
Other leech codes have several ways arround them (as all codes do...lol) but for the most part to the member who is willin to click once and say a few words and grab a show , this codes the shit! I created it by combining a standard "hide " hide" code with another "reply " reply" code. The flaw in others is its wording "reply".Link is visible upon loading page and is at risk before a "REPLY"(WELL DUH).. MINE USES THE "hide "hide" command which ................you guessed it.
**And you'd be suprised how far some peeps will go to skip a thank you as well and copy entire sites with ways around leech codes.. AND THERE ARE SOME WAYS FOR ALL ...............................................EVE N MINE!!
But i'd be glad to give this to staff here!!

I try to say thanks, but often I want to try to listen first so that I might be able to add something. But then I foget, so I am going to try to go the "thanks" when I download approach. (There isn't a THANKS button, right?)
As for uploading, most of the crap I have is on cassette or vinyl, so I have to convert it first. Plus most of it is already here. And I am an old fart who does not quite have enough confidence in uploading. But I will see what I can do to contribute.

The reason for this could be that somebody posted your show on another blog with the same link.
So if people download it from there they will not be able to thank you if the blogowner didn't mention the source he got it from.
And what if people don't like your show after they downloaded it, do you think they're going to thank you for it ? I don't think so.

Your first point is very true, however, I disagree with the second point. I don't post crap (unless someone requests it). I also post the lineage (which most people don't) and I generally post lossless. So, yeah, people should say thanks for the time and effort uploaders take to post something they may or may not like.

Bear in mind that you dont actually have to be a member of this site to read the posts so people who are downloading from here may not actually be able to post a simple thank you also as theyve not registered. I downloaded about 20 boots myself before I'd even joined here .

Do not make this board public.
People MUST be registred to SEE this thread.
This is the only logical answer.

the only logical answer is too few give a damn, so go f**^ yourselves. I wanted to be a real part of this, but lonely losers tell their tales of ill-repute.
"Nobody gives, Fuck Y'all" is the attitude I hear, so fuck y'all. I'm out of this shit smorgasbord. Let leeches eat their own.
I'm deleting everything I ever posted unless somebody intervenes. Over 100 files. Fuck you leeches.
