I just don't get it?
I guess it's me............but I want bootlegs that I can jam to at high volume.
Not something that some asshole taped from his coat pocket in the upper deck back behind the column next to the pisser.
I started a blog a few months ago, and let my fucking DOG be in charge of quality control, ya know...........if ya can't JAM IT FUCKING LOUD>>>>>>>>DON'T PLAY IT! And she has been pretty good to me so far. I get emails form ALL over the world thanking me for the decent downloads. A LOT OF FOLKS are tired of downloading CRAP! Something looks GREAT, and then they are disappointed when they listen to it because it sounds like SHIT!>>>>>>WELL THAT DOESN"T HAPPEN WITH US!
I try to share back here, GOOD SHIT that folks send in to us, something that you can turn the volume up on............very few say thanks, thats cool........but what would be even cooler is if more would share SHIT YOU CAN JAM!!!!!!

The band sounds like SHIT, the singer sounds like he's in the pisser across the street and and sound quality overall is total SHIT!

You talk about FLAC vs mp3 and DOG folks for coverting? BUT! The SHIT UR your saving is garbage in FLAC, just cuz you want EVERY concert by a given artist? And someone may have something in mp3 by someone else that is awesome, but wait it's in mp3 and he's an asshole for having it in a wrong format.

I've been coming to GUITARS101 for close to 3 yrs now, and I have to say..........my ear truely can't tell the difference between FLAC and 320kbps (CONSTUCTION) ........BUT IT DOES HEAR THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN SHIT AND MUSIC.
And ya know what? The time for just posting garbage, just to post a show......is over. FUCK HISTORY. If it doesn't sound good, if it isn't a good showing of history...........why save it?
Would you dump a shreaded photo on the table in front of your own child, and say......this isn't really the way it looked, put the peaces together, and you still have no clue what it looked like or sounded like. But here ya go.

but you know folks aren't really "trading" anymore, it really would be nice if they can be honest about the quality so as not to wast HD space.
Can't disagree I've never been able to hear the difference between flac & mp3
burn cd's w/ the same music one from flac and one from mp3
turn them up loud, bet you will detect some difference then..
mostly in the richness of the sound, MP3's ripped at a lower bitrate 160 and below are "flat" sounding normally.
320K mp3 is very tought to tell any major differences in though compared to Lossless..

I agree, there have been numerous times I have downloaded shows only to find they are audience recordings, which I no longer listen to - regardless of the "historical importance."
It doesn't take much effort to post the source, FM / Soundboard etc, some posters just refuse to, or just don't care to let us know. It would save me time and a little frustration.

i do agree with you about the flac vs. mp3 etc.. it would be nice to get a better rating system, but who is going to do the judging? what might be an excellent recording to one might be crap to another. but here is my real opinion. when i found this site i thought i was in heaven. to a collector, finding a show that is truely "rare" is a great find even if the sound isn't perfect. LETS NOT DISCOURAGE PEOPLE FROM SHARING AND UPLOADING.
There are two sides to this,as in any disagreement.
Side one are the people who collect anything by a certain band (like Led Zeppelin) just because they are either trying to get every concert avaiable and don't care about how shitty the quality is because the rarity or signifigance matters more to them.
Side two are the people who are more interested in the quality of the bootlegs and could care less about rarity or signifigance.
Neither side is wrong,in my opinion. Both sides should just do what they want to do or what makes them happy.
Sparky that was a pretty long rant but I agree with every point made I've wasted so much time on shit recordings that's why now I check to see if it's soundboard or I read some of the comments to see if it is a good recording.
Thats the nature of bootlegs. Some are good, some are shit. It is what it is. It does'nt go much deeper than that. You will always have MP3 vs FLAC, WAV,SHN ect. Truth be told you can tell the difference when you crank up a low bit rate MP3. It sounds flat, its like a tube driven amp as opposed to a solid state amp. Tubes are richer, warmer and much fuller sounding. like I said, it is what it is...
well sure, if i was at a show, i'd definitely not want a copy of it later on because it wasnt up to some anonymous collector's standards. :extreeeeme sarcastic smilie:

it should also be thoroughly notated (date, time, location, etc).
and graded.

cuz it is all relative, in the world of audio.
when surround mics (meaning a single-piece model) are the standard some yrs from now, i dont want all the 2-channel stuff to be discarded because its not surround recording, y'know?......

i've got 20gb worth of audience recordings that sound 100x better than that.
OTOH, that record is one of my desert-island discs.
