I left this post one day... and I tell you... I tell you... (in a quiet whisper) there are other places to post.... IT IS TRUE!!!!! I HAVE BEEN THERE I TELL YOU!!!!!

So my dad and I are walking into the parking lot of the Mandalay bay after parking. I see this guy with long hair, beard, and some dark shades. We walk up to him and I think he asked my dad where the convention center is, he said that is where we are going too. So we keep walking, and along the way he asks what band I’m with, I tell him I’m just a guest and show him the e-mail I printed out. So we find the convention center and as we go inside we get lost for a good 10 minutes (trying to find the North convention center IN the south ballroom. So we thought it was the south convention center for awhile).

Well, we finally get into the check in area by following all the damn arrows and signs and we see two big lines (and I mean big, they were organized into two maze-like structures). We then go the table (as the line begins to move) which led to the security check-in area. I showed the lady my I.D and e-mail and then she gave my dad and me these black bracelet things to wear. So we finally get into the security check in part, the guy tells me it's just like going into the airport, but I’ve never been in an airport before so the lady told me to take all the stuff out of my pockets and waved that weird stick around me. She waved it around my butt a lot, I told her I was wearing a belt and she stopped. Well, we go into this other room, and in there is like a doorway thing and I see people looking inside this giant trash can right before they walk in, I look inside and there are these huge amounts of water bottles and the lady says "take one, they're free" or something. I take one for my dad and one for myself. The room was divided by this tape on the ground which made these rows; I went in the one my dad was in. There were a lot of people and we were being separated by the plastic bracelets they gave us. A little later I go back to get another water bottle and I go back in line, I then (like 10-20 minutes later) notice people are drinking 6 packs of those Fiji water bottles. My dad then points out that they were handing them out by the 6 pack (these were free also) so I asked him to get some and he got about 4 bottles. Another 10-20 minutes later the people with the black shirts and stuff told us that we had to sit down so no one would cut in line or something. It was mostly because we would be there for awhile.

Then about an hour or so (I don't remember) we were being led out of the rooms, into like outside the building and into the back entrance or something of the stadium where all the concession stands were. They told us to stand by the wall(s). At that point we were allowed to go into the bathrooms (we had to after drinking all that water) and then 10 or so minutes later we heard Queen doing their rehearsals. At first, I thought the show had already started! I look at some distance from the wall to the entrance of the arena and notice there are a lot of empty seats. The guy in front of me confirmed that it was just rehearsals. I was surprised on how well the music videos went with the rehearsals especially since they were the wrong videos for the wrong songs (and bands). So then god knows when these two drunken chicks were complaining because a lady in the uniform or whatever said they could not drink beer. They started complaining to this lady saying "they took my beer!" and as she walks away I tell her "yeah! They took MY beer too!" and one of the girls believed me. So the line starts to move, my dad gives me some money to get popcorn. I go to the concession stand to get some popcorn and a coffee (which took at least 10 minutes) and at least 4-5 people to man the damn coffee machine. To my dismay the coffee was nasty, and we had to throw it away anyway before entering the arena.

So we walk into the giant ass place, and to my surprise the pit area was where the fucking camera was and right near the walkway! A few minutes later some guy starts talking, I don't know who he is really but he seemed pretty cool. I thought he was going to get fired for sure, but I guess that was part of the act. He said we were allowed to use our camera phones, which is bullshit because we were told not to bring any of the sort. My dad did though; he was recording shit like crazy on his. Well, the camera thing starts to wave back and forth around us driving the drunks’ crazy "OMG WE GONNA BE ON TEH TV!!!!!!!!!!!" fucking fatasses.

Anyways, the Foo Fighters go up and start playing their tribute song and then Brian May comes out of nowhere with his guitar and starts jamming along with that other guy. I was never a big Foo Fighter fan but it was pretty cool. After that, Queen came along (once the FF's were off the stage of course) and started up with my favorite song (I play it every day, and right now!) 'Under Pressure', I felt it was a bit weak but then again I never heard Freddie Mercury or Paul Rogers perform live. Brian's voice was great; Rogers had a good stage presence. They then followed with 'The show must go on', and then with the obvious 'We will rock you'/'We are the champions' thing. They fooled me though, when they started playing 'We Will Rock You', Brian did a riff from 'Innuendo' so I thought they were going to play that.

Well, after that they did some ass-kissing for Judas Priest (not Queen, vh1 and that hot chick. They did the same for Queen and all other bands). Godsmack did the presentation or whatever for Judas Priest, though it was not what I was expecting. They started out with the same Opener Priest Usually does, 'The Hellion'/'Electric Eye' then switched to 'Victim of changes' (like Black Sabbath did when they went from 'Heaven and Hell' to 'Sign of the southern cross, but they didn't revert back like Sabbath did back in the day). They then finished it off with 'Hell bent for leather'. Then they went off stage after their set ended, and the giant wall on stage began to rotate revealing the band. The crowd went crazy when they saw Judas Priest, it was pretty nostalgic seeing the band there (This was the 2nd time I've seen them at the Mandalay Bay). That Jim guy came out and introduced the band, doing some of his Rob Halford impressions (and along the way produced some very high quality Rob Halford screams). Judas Priest then opened with ‘Breaking the law’, which of course is everyone’s favorite but I was really hoping they would play something they don’t normally do. After which, a few moments after the song ended Rob Halford rolled on stage with his motorcycle, though instead of playing the usual ‘Hell Bent for leather’, they did ‘You got another thing comin’’. After the song, Rob Halford busted out the “yeah yeah yeahs” in which the crowd would repeat after whatever words he decided to say. Instead of doing ‘Breaking the law’ (because they had already done so) they played ‘The Green Manalishi (with the Two Pronged Crown)’ which was really cool because I had the song stuck in my had prior to the concert. After the song, the band took their bows and moved along.

After which The American rejects (I don’t remember their name to well) came on stage and played their tribute song after the Def Leppard video was over. I don’t remember the song they were playing, or as to why they were wearing tight pants (I think I saw the guy’s ass crack. That would have been something; someone asks me “did you see any nipple slips?” “No, but I saw some 20 kid’s ass crack!” “Wow, that’s heavy!”). Either way, I think they gave a decent performance. After their set was over, Def Leppard rolled in and began their set. (Now keep in mind I’m not a very big Def Leppard fan, let alone know any of their songs. So they begin with a song that I vaguely recognize. The lead singer had a lot of energy, running around everywhere on stage and the drummer was simply amazing considered he was able to pull off half the things he did.

After that band finished playing their songs, there was a long monologue between some chick and another comedian guy about Kiss. It was funny, not because of what they were saying, but because the lady was struggling to read the stuff that came up on the giant teleprompter! Well, after that agonizing thing was over (and the unerringly long Kiss tribute video was over) the super group came on stage. Well, I believe they were already on stage and they didn’t give half a shit about the Kiss video that was already playing (Neither did I). The host came on and started talking again; he said that they were the greatest bands ever-that were formed an hour ago. It was pretty funny, the group consisted of Rob Zombie on vocals, that bald guy from Anthrax on bass (which looked like Gene’s ax bass), some other guy on guitar (I don’t know who, maybe that guy from Def Leppard. He looked like Ian Hill from Judas Priest though), Slash on guitar and Tommy Lee also on guitar. Some other guy on Drums, I think it was Nikki. I was very surprised that it wasn’t Tommy on drums at first. Rob Zombie was funny, he said that the band deserved a better name and gave the other guys credit. Their performance was pretty good, as usual Slash pulled off his cool solos on the walk way and Rob Zombie seemed to have posed a really aggressive presence on stage. He was everywhere; needless to say he gave a good performance.

After their set was over (I think they only did one song), Kiss came on stage and did a few of their songs. The only song I recognized was ‘Detroit Rock City’, which was pretty heavy live. They had A LOT of pyro and fireworks. Someone commented after the show that they didn’t play ‘Rocking all night’ (I don’t remember the exact name). I noticed they were doing a lot of pointing into the audience, I guess they were picking out their lot of groupies. I remember seeing a really hot chick wearing almost nothing, but she left my sight. After their set was over, all the bands that were being honored came on stage and took their bows. The audience responded by shouting out “ONE MORE SONG! ONE MORE SONG! ONE MORE SONG!” and I think that let the other bands a little down. Of course, I was also shouting out the same thing when Judas Priest finished their set, guess they did not hear me. So Kiss did their last song and then the show ended. The last one had a lot more pyro than the other songs I believe.

After the show some guy went on stage and started throwing guitar picks into the pit area (which was where I was at) and everyone went crazy trying to get them. Though, they apologized to each other if they bumped into one another. My dad and I stayed a little longer after everyone cleared away so he could take a better picture of the stage area with his camera phone. He could probably have filled a museum with all the shit he took.

I was a little let down that I was not able to attend the after show party (then again I got my tickets for free in some e-mail drawing contest) but I didn’t let it get me down. I didn’t even know where it was being held! So we go to the parking lot and it wasn’t even full, I noticed the same tour bus (I think it was) that was parked there since before 4:30 (because I noticed it in the parking lot when I got there, and it was not 4:30 at the time) I was hoping it belonged to Judas Priest but I didn’t go investigate, I assumed they were at the party or in the Casino somewhere.
