[GQ Daddy]

I've been messing around with making flac (losssless) audio and decided to try it on a Boston DVD someone recently traded me for one of my Van Halen shows. It came out very nicely in my opinion. Below is the information, flac fingerprints and the download files are below that. I probably won't be sharing "too many" shows like this because it took me over a week to get all of these files uploaded on my connection (Show itself is over 800MB Big!) but it's a good quality show and the audio quality of the show surpassed the quality of the video. If you've never listened to flac files before, you'll need an application to do so. A great free one is called Foobar. If you're on a slow connection, sorry this isn't what we normally post here but thought I'd see if we have any interest here in flac shows.

GQ's NOTES ON THIS SHOW:
This is an audio rip off an Amatuer Hand-Held Cam Video Recording (DVD-Copy) Gen Unk./Equip Unk.Video Issues for the operator were made apparent by several still images of the show being displayed
while audio continued.

Beginning 10 seconds of recording in this show, uneven feed from mic as equipment was being prepared. After that mark the sound quality changes to what it is throughout the show. A Still image was in place until after that mark.

Brad Talk and Introductions was split into a seperate track even though the DVD includes this with the guitar solo.

Beginning of Hollyann...
At 6 second mark into intro of Hollyann taper of show made a cut and goes directly into the beginning of Hollyann. A still image was on the screen during this which may suggest lost video or audio as the reason for this cut. End of song, a thank you by the band, mention of more introductions then a cut directly into Kimberly doing "With You". Video/Audio was not smooth on this transition.

End of "Let Me Take You Home Tonight"/Beginning of "Walk On"
At the very end of Let me Take You.. There are 3 successive loud crackles/crunches and then it cuts directly into Walk On. I decided to place the split for the tracks before these 3 crackles since it sounded like the recording was resumed as Walk On was already being played by the band.

"Walk On"
Actually is similar to the record in that Brad/Fran sing the beginning, then there is a long organ solo in the middle and then Walk On finishes with Brad/Fran on vocals. I decided not to cut this track into three parts and leave it as one long track hence the time of the track.

Beginning of "Foreplay/Long Time"
There was a duplicate 3 sec's of track where from Magdalene into Foreplay the cut was not clean. I simply removed this identical piece of 3 seconds of track to allow the tracks to transition/play more smoothly. No part of the show was lost by this cut.

You know mate. This is weird. I had some time to spare tonight and sat at the pc wondering what to share with you all tonight. I then thought hey, the Boston stuff i posted on here went down pretty well so i'll upload some more Boston. I then sign in here and 'bingo' you have posted some, as i am uploading some.

Anyways, great post. You chose a good one. This is a great show.
As you know i'm a pretty big fan of Boston and have numerous boots, and rarities, but hadn't thought of posting this one.

I too have the dvd and audio of this show, and i am pleased that you have put it up here to share.

I shall be posting numerous Boston shows over the coming weeks if interest is there.

Anyways great post gq as always.

I'm Sorry Ruby... I've already had to remove this off of my hard drive. Did so about 2 weeks ago. Took awhile to convert it off of my DVD then format to FLAC and it was chewing up too much disk space so I won't be doing it again for this show. (Pretty much a one shot deal...)
Maybe someone else has that Pt2 still on their hd and could re-up it.

Perhaps I can interest you in an mp3 version of this show?
