I suggest you use dbpoweramp. Once youhave the basic software installed, you can download codecs for any form of audio conversation. It will convert .ape to any other format.
If you tell us what audio player/converter(s) you use now, we'd be better able to say whether there's a plug-in for what you're using, or another program with a similar interface.
Failing that, use MediaMonkey (free version is plenty for your needs). It will play and convert them out-of-the-box. And it rocks.

Hi DeXonDAZ, hope you found what you needed to convert your files. You probably got it figured out by now but I can't help but recommend Trader's Little Helper. It's a great utility for the just about everything for trading files and super easy to use. Please give the FLAC format serious consideration. It's not as compact as mp3. Mp3 at 320k is about 4:1 and FLAC is about 2:1. Considering the fact that memory is still doubling every 2 years (moore's law) going lossless makes a lot of sense at this point in time.
Oh, and thanks !!! for all your contibutions!!!
I have been using several utilities to convert file formats and since I tried Trader´s Little Helper dumped everything else. That´s the one I recommend.
