thanks alot for this.i never found a good copy of the show.i don't even have a way to open flac files, but i'm getting it anyway! no luck finding a flac program so far. anyway,i remember the day after the accident i got up and i was going somewhere and i turned on the radio in my 74 mercury cougar (with a 8 track player...) and the top 3 radio stations here in so cal played srv all day and night with very little-if not any commercials.

i was a young metal head musician and liked srv,but didn't get WAY into him until that day.i pulled into a cemetery (it wasn't planned) which was the closest place to park and sit to listen all day to the radio stations paying tribute.in a strange way i felt the loss hard that day.every song was gold, every note was dripping with passion.now i have more srv boots(followed by the black crowes) than any other artist.

many years later when i was working for a drum company,i went to pick up some gear for my boss in hollywood.in the wherehouse in the back corner,i seen some road cases that belonged to srv.not him personally cause the sizes and shapes of them told me they were for backline and stuff.but they has the in step logo on them.a few weeks later i seen one of srv's amps in the display window at guitar center in hollywood.i believe its still there with one of his guitars.

sorry for going on,i actually never told anyone this.thanks again for this post-and for everyone else who posts on here.

Trouble played two shows on August 25 & 26 at Alpine Valley Music Theatre in East Troy, WI, while on tour with Eric Clapton.
For travel to the next venue, the tour manager reserved four helicopters to circumvent congested highway traffic. In very dense fog, the helicopters were clear for lift off at 12:40 A.M. Just past the lift-off zone was a 300-foot hill. Vaughan's helicopter pilot was unfamiliar with the flight pattern for exiting the area, and did not climb to sufficient altitude immediately after take-off. Vaughan's helicopter veered off to one side and crashed into the hill.

According to the findings as reported by the National Transportation Safety Board, the cause of the accident was determined to be inadequate planning by the pilot, and failure to attain sufficient altitude to clear an obstacle. Fog and haze, as well as the rising terrain were listed as contributing factors. All occupants including Vaughan, the pilot and three members of Eric Clapton's travel group were killed on impact.

wow. awesome. if this is the audio from the house video feed that would be killer. that story with the camera men in the perch after sunset jives with most of my Alpine experiences. No shade and they usually only ran video for the healiner, not usually for the opener.

but my hunch is that they do test the equipment during the opener. and when you turn on that feed and see SRV jammin - how could you not want to press the REC button? and no one knows what happens to those tapes or who is recording the feeds.

blows my mind that the Clapton sets haven't surfaced from these shows either.

he was getting shown up by SRV - and despite the fact he was playing mostly music from Journeyman - he was cooking both nights. i remember thiunking it - i've seen EC before but he is ON tonight.

thanks for the new link and source, i'm anxious to hear it!

listened to it last night - it's definately not a SBD or the audio from the video feed.

it's just a killer audiance, probably from the back of the pavillion. it might even be a remaster of the source i already have. nice low end but SRV is not in front of the mix and sounds a bit distant.

regardless, it cranks and this is the best we're gonna have of this show unless some PRO version shows up.....

thanks!
