Thanks bmag5150! Fantastic job with the artwork as well.
Although the recording sounds very good in general, I wanted to ask you, which MD model did you use? Being a MiniDisc fan myself, I have had several models before with the latter being the fantastic MZ-RH1. I have made quite a few concert recordings with defferent results and it seems that the best setting must be the "manual rec level control" as well as the "low mic sensitivity", what do you think? Was this the case at the Styx show? Also, it seems to me that the DP part has more ballanced sound, I'm not sure...
Anyway, thanks again and if anyone else has recorded Styx in the UK:
PLEASE POST!!!

I used my Sony MZ-RH1 which is also my favourite, particularly because it can record up to 8hrs at standard play. I did have the MIC Sens set to low, as that is what is recommended for music concerts, but I didn't set the record level to manual, simply because once I have set the recorder up before the show and lock it on hold, I do not want to be adjusting again because something might go wrong, and I usually like to avoid attracting attention by checking it.
At the Styx show, I set the recorder to record 1 hour before they came on in order to record Thin Lizzy, then Styx and finally Deep Purple. During the show, I did not move from my position or move the microphone so if there is a better balance for Deep Purple, I can only surmise that it is because their stage sound was more balanced.
BTW, If you have any Styx shows you would like to upload, I'd love to hear them, particularly if they are lossless. I have a recording of the London 2005 show on mini-disc which I have just transferred to my PC, so I should be able to post something within the next few weeks!
Cheers
