Errrrr...........it's Steve Vai alright, but it's not SRV. It's Ralph Machhio faking the playing of Ry Cooder for the slide stuff, Arlen Roth for the non slide bluesy stuff, and Bill Kanengeiser for the classical stuff. The original duel was supposed to feature Ry Cooder in the Steve Vai role, and they were going to duel on slide guitars, which makes a lot more sense than having a movie about the blues, and then going metal and neo classical at the end.......ah well. The movie was made during 1985-86 when Stevie was at his worst with drug and drink, so I don't think he could have done even if they wanted him to.

I've been deceived!! Sorry folks. It was e-mailed to me, and I posted it before checking it out. Atleast you can get a good laugh out of ol' Ralphy.

I remember this flick. Dig it, but I remember watching it as a kid & thinking, I wonder who's playing for Macchio? I'd love to hear his stuff.
Cooder is one of the all time greats. Hands down.
