a heartfelt tribute to guitars101.com

hehhehe

i did this one today after hearing that great backing that was posted in the backings forum .

some really poor note choice by me in parts (that's code for i screwed up big time)

but i found my first take to the be the most natural and smooth to me compared to my other 2 takes .. despite the blunders . does anyone else get this ? i find almost always my first take is my best ... and the rest sound sorta .. stiff ?..

anyway enjoy !

Thats great Stig...nice warm playing and tone...is this the Gibson again cos it sounds lovely. As for first take...Nope, exactly the opposite. I don't find my 'voice' until half an hour or so when I may have done about 15 takes!

I like the melody lines you came up with in this song and there are a lot of tasty licks, great job!

I know exactly what you are saying Sitg about the one take phenomena...sometimes when you hook into a tune for the first time playing it through just that once gives it something... Great job with this!!

Real nice playing there Stiglar. That's a cool backing track too.
I can't seem to get a good first take anymore. Some times it flows right out for me on the 1st try but very rarely.

Re: a heartfelt tribute to guitars101.com

thankyou very much

i think i just have to be in the right mood to record and usually that time is when i'm really inspired and i just pick up the guitar and play i don't practice before hand it's the first thing i play and it just seems more fresh .

with this one i downloaded the backing .. had a listen for a while mapped out what the structure was like with the modulation to Eb etc and thought wow this is great ! .. picked up my guitar and played over it and recorded it . but believe me it doesn't always happen that easy !

Sounds cool Stig. I know what you are saying about the first take having a fresh approach, but I find that if I stay after it and keep the first take ideas I can usually get something better after about 30 or so. If not I try again after a couple of weeks of forgetting about it.

The track does cut off hard at the end for some reason.

Re: a heartfelt tribute to guitars101.com

hard ? ... it was prolly me whacking the space bar when i finished like i always do lol

i don't have the patience to do 30 takes or anything like that if i don't get something i'm sorta happy with the first 3 or 4 times i give up and do something else lol . that's prolly a bad thing . ...

i think the longest time i've spent on something was the last group song where i did those harmonies and the really slow solo .. and that sounds off to me .. the harmonies are pretty cool but the solo itself sounds stiff .. i dunno i guess it's just the way i play . everyones different
