A Quick multi track noodle

I just wanted to post this rough piece to boost the mp3 section up a little.
It's far from being tight, but I needed to record it last night so as to not forget the chord progression.
I can't seem to be able to play anything that doesn't end up in a friggin wall of sound! No finesse here. I a lost cause for jazz obviously, LOL!

Re: A Quick multi track noodle

Why oh why do I listen to this stuff just before I'm going to try and record one myself ?

As ever CC, this is really good. It has a really lazy feel to it, in terms of the chord progression. I love the way the guitar revs up at the start. What are you doing this.

It justs aches of driving music to me dude. I love the sound you have out of this, even if it does sound a little muffled, but then again, I didn't clean my ears this morning.

What I am on about. It is a real stinker. You're right !!!

You know I'm just kidding right ?

LOL, MONDOLA!

I always lok forward to reading your comments!

I really should have refrained from posting this early version but as I said I felt that we needed a little kickstart for the thread.
I'm glad you like it though.
I also wish I had more time to dig deeper and bring a lot of those song ideas to completion. Wish me luck!

Dude I don't know how I missed this but I don't recall hearing it all before. Nice progression, I love that older style (by today's standards anyway) and you mixed it up well. This is a great tune to work on scales over. Good job dude

Re: A Quick multi track noodle

Thanks, Eric.
I was trying to do something very melodic and powerful, something big. It's a bit repetitive and it gives me a lot of respect for people who actually compose good stuff that sounds like a song and not an endless jam...

Today I jammed for two hours to a MIDI of Steve Vai's For The Love Of God.
I'll pick a good take I recorded and post it for kicks. That one is terrific for E aolian and pentatonic minor E. It kicks ass and it's a beautiful song I can't get tired of hearing (well I kinda do after two hours straight though).
I think Tripousky gave it to me some time ago. It's great!

The time you spend working on those type of things is invaluable dude, no matter how you look at it you are practicing for hours. I know what you mean about wanting something heavy and powerful, it's hard to pull off for me personally with a home studio mostly because I don't know what the hell I am doing.

OK, you asked for it!
Here's a sneak peak at my fancy studio facilities. I was thinking of finding a cool name for it like 5150, Headley Grange or the Mothership but these are already spoken for...

Your suggestions are welcome of course!

Re: A Quick multi track noodle

I didn't show the drum machine I used. It's a second hand Boss DR550 I got off of eBay. I think it works well for my modest needs.
I'm a primate and don't know what a sound card is—I use a Mac that takes care of everything for me—like any good computer should. LOL! Best little computer in the world, never a fart. Now if I only stepped up to DSL instead of dial up...

I like the Creative speakers very much too. I got them when I started watching DVDs on the Mac. They're small, but kick ass with that subwoofer box!

The POD in the foreground is my little “tone factory”. This sucker was really worth every penny I spent on it. I keep plugging this brand (Line6) but don't get any kickback money from them... LOL!

On screen is ProTools Free (the demo).

Re: A Quick multi track noodle

cool sounds like you have a cool setup !

i heard those POD things are pretty damn good i've never tried one myself ,

i love the creative speakers as well , they're small but they do the job really well with the subwoofer you get with it ... i got mine with my creative extigy soundcard box thing that sits on top of my computer ....

Re: A Quick multi track noodle

Well, Stig, if you like the tone I used on this recording, all you need is a POD and a little practice with it until you master all its features. It's no rocket science, but the more time you spend with it, the better it gets.
You have 32 types of amps available, and you can use their original cabinets and speakers or you can use cabinets from other applications (celestion vintage 30, greenbacks, 4x12, 2x12, 4x10, 2x10, 8-inch, etc...
Built-in effects include compressor, 2 chorusses, 2 flangers, delay, reverb, rotary speakers, tremolo, volume swell, etc...
You can probably pick a POD up on eBay or step up to the ultimate POD, the POD XT that has a preset patch called Eruption ('nuff said) that will litterally drop your jaw, guaranteed!
