Backing Track Blues in C
Here it is.
This is the same drum line that I used on the BLues in C posted a couple days ago. I took the liberty to record a new, cleaner rythm for it, so as to let anyone interested express themselves and pull out a groovy improv...
I recommend minor pentatonic to be straightforward, as you just can't go wrong with that. You can also dabble with major + minor pentatonic if your timing is good and it workds wonders to give the improv a great dimension.
Have fun and let's hear your tune next!

Re: Backing Track Blues in C
Hee hee heeh !
I found it first ! Do I win a prize ?
Any suggestions on what I should do for a good tone. I'm gonna go with one of my guitars into my ValveState Amp, then mic it into CoolEdit.
I'm just clueless as to how to use the effects in CoolEdit Pro ...

Re: Backing Track Blues in C
Suggestion, warm tone with a touch of overdrive and reverb/delay, but preferably no “Metal” effects, or wall of sound.

Re: Backing Track Blues in C
Alright, I'm gonna have to ask this in another thread. I blatantly have no idea how to work with just the knobs on my amp, let alone any other feckin' effects !!!
Aww, I wish I had a guitar buddy who could help me...

Re: Backing Track Blues in C
I know, but I'm such a novice that I get lost so easily. I can't even remember the knobs on my ValveState. I just know that some time when I twiddle 'em, it sounds good, and sometimes it sounds crap.
I know there's Reverb, Contour, Bass, Treble (I think, can't remember) Gain 1 and Gain 2, and of course, Master Volume.
I think a large part is that my ears are so messed up, I can't really notice the subtle differences that twiddling these knobs makes...
Shocking really....
But people say, wet this, and dry this, warm this, dirty that. I sort of know what they mean, but what effect it means and how I'd replicate that effect ?
:dunno :
I honestly do learn better if I'm shown rather than told, which is why I find it difficult. Plus, like I say, my ears aren't really worth relying on. They've let me down too many times.
Do you remember the "Well I think you're really UGLY" mistake I made ???

Re: Backing Track Blues in C
The cool thing with the Line 6 site, is that there is a place where you can view the buttons settings for various tones posted there. It's in the tone transfer section of the site. Very useful too!

Re: Backing Track Blues in C
i like both you guys' shot at it ... yours CC is pretty cool nice gritty tone you got going there i love it though it's a wicked backing too ... nice and fat !
Eric yours i liked as well i reckon it's really cool how you always chuck in your first takes for these things , i've always thoguht that the true ability of a guitarist is in his first or second take ! sounds great ... my only slight complaint is the echo thing you put on your guitar alot of guitarists do it and i've never really understood it ! but keep it up i like the takes put in so far !
