Blues in C 9-24

A little blues excercise I worked on last night to steer away from Metal and power chords a little bit.

I hope you will like it.

Re: Blues in C 9-24

Thank you.

Guitar: Wolfgang Standard
Live: Line 6 Flextone II 2x12 100 Watt
Recording: Line 6 POD 2.0

I used the VOX AC30 for solo, a Fender Twin Reverb for rythm (I'm not sure anymore) and played the bass part with the Wolf, using the Bassman model with tone all the way to bass, little treble and some mids.

Tone could be better though in retrospect. I don't like so much anymore. The rythm guitar is too dirty. I should have used less gain to let the chords articulate better. Oh well!

Re: Blues in C 9-24

Think I've said before I'm a big fan of Line6 and am thinking of getting something to record with as I miss the versatility and I like the samples...especially the Soldano and Mesa Boogie settings. If it helps, I thought you were using valve combo's on that song so I was once again fooled by the Line6...Good work mate.

Re: Blues in C 9-24

Maybe you can try to get your hands on the POD Pro XT. It has the early VH tone to near perfection. It's scary! You can play Eruption and feel like it's 1978 again. I heard their mp3 sample online and it knocked me out of my chair!

Wahwah, I hear a lot of shit being said about modeling technology. It seems to hurt tube purists to think that their magic tone can be reproduced by lowly electronic-age equipment.
I don't see it that way. To me the holly grail is still real, valve amps, but I just can't afford to buy a Marshall stack, a Soldano, a Fender Twin and a Vox, A Buddah, a Cheiftan, and all that other crap and stuff it into my garage.
Modeling technology helps us get a wide palet of decent tones out of affordable gear and I feel that modeling is good enough for those of us who are not pros and still want cool tone.

I'm not a touring musician, just a living room hack, I'll stick to Line 6 ans what it has to offer.

Thanks again for the feedback. I'm glad I got you fooled!

Re: Blues in C 9-24

Is there a chance you can post that backing track? It sounds like it would be fun to play to.

I love 'em...just wish they'd endorse me and give me free stuff! My only endorsement is for picks...good 'uns from InTune...BUT I want guitars and amps and shit...drool, drool. As for purist...use whatever sounds good is my motto!

Re: Blues in C 9-24

Eric, I was thinking about that last night as I was playing.
I'll re-record the rythm part tonite with a cleaner tone and post it as a backing track in the AM. How's that?

Re: Blues in C 9-24

By the way, as requested, there will be a backing track for this blues in the appropriate section.
Look for it and have fun doing your improv!

Re: Blues in C 9-24

Lovely tune CC... Excellent tone !

One thing I have noticed about you guys. No-one on here is scared of hiding their sound away. I just tend to ensure the backing track or the drums are louder than myself. Something to hide my playing behind I suppose, a sort of comfort zone !

I'll have to try and plonk the recording levels up a little for the guitar and just have the balls to go out there and play !

Thanks again for the inspiration. The cheesy kids T.V. sounding tune that I'm currently working on is coming along nicely. Hopefully, I will develop it enough for you guys to get a hear of it.

Anyway, enough about me, this is excellent CC !!! Keep it up. You are definitely convincing me that I need to beg Jen for a POD this Christmas !

Way to go!
Maybe you can look for a used POD at your music store or in the ads if you don't want to wait that long!
