Concept piece - please read before listening Copied this post from the old site for new members - if you were at the old site, you've probably heard it already.
This is something that I have had in my head for a few years and once I got my cakewalk software, it was the first project I worked on. It is very rough at this point - still needs the bass added in as well as the lead lines. Let me explain this so you get an idea of what I am doing. It started with the sound effects when I wanted to do an instrumental in honor of our military forces. Matter of fact, the one effect that still has to be added in is the one that I first heard in my head - a minister reciting the English burial service text of "Ashes to ashes, dust to dust...." I'm waiting on a guy to do this voice for me that has the absolute perfect speaking voice for it - and he's a minister to boot. Once I get him on tape, I'll jump back in and finish off the whole arrangement. Bear with me through the first minute, which is all sound effects. I'll probably chop that down quite a bit after I finish the actual music. They are a set-up to the mood of the instrumental. Once the music comes in, the dissonant chords are intentional - the sound is meant to represent the ugliness of war and the hell that those invloved must experience. Halfway through the piece the key will shift to a major one to signify a redemption of the souls of those lost in battle. Pretty deep stuff, I know - but it's one of the few times I've written anything that has a real purpose behind it. Anyway - I promised a few guys including seenbad that I would get this uploaded soon, and since I've hit a wall with my recording time the last few months, I just wanted to get it up for them to check out in the meantime. |

Re: Concept piece - please read before listeningHi wolfman,
I've finally got round to listening to the stuiff I never got round to the first time. I really like this. Talk about atmosphere. It really builds up the mood. I'll be interested to see how this one goes. Great work ! |

Re: Concept piece - please read before listeningThanks, bro. I promise I'll get off my ass and complete these things soon - just too much going on right now to be able to sit down and really dedicate myself to working on any tracks.
