DOUG ALDRICH...free track! Listen to THIS tone!
As the unofficial Doug Aldrich fan club, I'm trying to bring this guys profile up...what better way than to get you lot to listen to him! This track is for free download on his site so no worries about licensing etc. This guy is what I would LIKE to be...awesome blues and rock chops, amazing tone and that George Lynch 'thing' about his playing. Check him out.

Thats not a bad description of it mate...it has va vav oom! Love the single coil sound. I remember reading a interview with Lynch and he said he wanted the single coil of SRV with the mud of Tony Iommi!

You're right Chris...he's a monster!!! And it is a gr8 tone, although for me personally I prefer humbuckers....that's just what I've always played...even after a few of my heroes switched(Beck, Clapton, Trower...)

I'm a huge Aldrich fan! Have you seen the Dio live DVD, Evil or Devine? Thats a great live 2002 show in New York. I love watching Doug play.
His style reminds me of Zakk Wylde, Lynch, and a little Iommi mixed in.

Doug is just a monsterous player!! - It amazes me that he does so much with pretty much just his index and ring fingers!! - The other two barely touch the neck and he manages to crush most of the other guys out there.

Yep, I'm a lifelong member of the unofficial Doug Aldrich fan club!!! I've followed his playing since he was in Lion. A very VERY, underrated player. Give me a Doug Aldrich or a George Lynch over the widdly widdly crowd any day!!!

Oh yeah, Andy Timmons, another underrated guitarist. Another of my faves is Reb Beach who has an amazing tapping technique and admits to rarely using his pinky!! He is also a great fusion player and some of his solo stuff is fantastic. Here's a clip of him (and Andy Timmons from his website.
Other underrated guitarists I really rate are Dann Huff, Michael Lee Firkins and Marc Bonilla.

Re: DOUG ALDRICH...free track! Listen to THIS tone!
Get the recent Dio live DVD and you'll love the way Doug plays on stage.
He's also a really sweet guy I'm told. He's friends with my guitar teacher. Doug seems to be another great guy who never really got an honest break and got stuck playing replacements most of his carrer.
I did the Dio gig (revolving door policy) He's now in Whitesnake (same story)...
Never mind, he's a fantastic guitar hero in my book.
Also get Dio's Killing the Dragon CD and you'll hear some really magic solos and leads. Solos that are specific to the song. No weedly weedly generic licks that could be copy/pasted onto any song as long as it's in the proper key. His solos are complete, mioni songs within the song...
Do I come across as a crazed and biased DA fan? Good! That was my intent!
