Flet's - Death March (Lost in the Desert)
If I may borrow 5:39 of your time.
This is a song that evokes a lot of emotion out of me. I tried to bleed as much as I could at the time. My main influences on the song were George Lynch's "I Will Remember" and the "Kill Bill" movies. I really wanted to have a song like "I Will Remember", and I wrote this song shortly after watching the "Kill Bill" movies and listening to the fabulous "Chingon".
It's all about a man who is "lost in the desert", just as if he was dropped off in the middle of a desert and is wandering around trying to get out but obviously can't. The first 3 minutes or so is about him thinking and attempting to get out of the desert. The last 2 minutes is the beginning of his "Death March". I just picture the movie camera panning away from the man as he wanders into the distance of the desert, hopeless, lost, thirsty, and knowing he will die. The end is very repetitive but does exactly what I "feel" would mimic the man's long hopeless journey to his death. After all, all he sees is sand.....for miles. For him the landscape is repetitive, and therefore that is reflected in the music. Actually, the bass line does change up a bit but I couldn't get it out very well on the mix.
I prefer to sit back, close my eyes and just let the song take me to its place for its duration.
Any who, enough of the artistic rambling. Enjoy, and thank you for listening.

Me, I like guitar. I like loud squeals and pinch harmonics that only dogs can hear, tapping that would redefine what Fred Astaire popularized, sweeping that would make a janitor jealous, and most importantly great melodic HOOKS (like the greatest hook writers of all time Björn Ulvaeus and Benny Andersson). Singing is not a requirement.

linda, thank you. I was scared nobody gave a $$$$ since I've gone a few days with no reply (not common here that seems), so I thought "I must have a real dud".... Thank you very much.

Nope, I don't own a 12 string. It's two tracks of acoustics, one with some reverb, the other with some chorus, each panned hard left/right. The Death March ending is four tracks of acoustic (some with reverb, some with chorus), and one track of clean electric mimicking the acoustic portion.
The piano is just a simple midi track with a bit if reverb added. I felt it was a cool little addition to the end.

how cool is this? the rhythm is lovely and thick and the melody is authentic but the show stopper is the distorted lead - that trill at the beginning is sublime! Superb Flet

This tune is the sort of thing I can't pull off. So, I dig it for that reason alone. Your ability to paint a scene is admirable. The production is top-notch as well. I'd love to know your set up.

Goport, you brought a smile to my face. Yeah, that trill is a little pull off/hammer on with my hands opposite (Right hand middle finger on the 15th fret (second string) with the trill on my Left hand middle finger on the 17th fret) and then just moving them as needed for the notes after that. Thanks for picking that out.

Thank you.
I'm using an Ovation electric acoustic direct into the preamp.
For the electric (both clean and distorted), it's a quilt top Peavey Wolfgang Delux through a miced JSX.
Everything is recorded into Sony Acid and that's literally it. I only wish I had more stuff, but maybe one day.

Oh man Flet! This totally rocked me. I can feel the emotion wrenched out of you in this. Wish I could compose something this subtle and sensitive. Glad to hear George's flag still flying in there as well Don.
Excellent post my man
