Ladies night in buffalo
hey guys heres my take on ladies night in buffalo by david lee roth featuring steve vai ...
this is an absolute bitch pain in the ass impossible solo so i did my best and made up the runs and fast bits that i couldn't play ... i aint steve vai .. so i'll say it's an artists interpretation

Re: Ladies night in buffalo
Honestly I have never heard that song but I can tell you even if you hadn't mentioned Vai in your post I would have guessed in a second. Nice job pulling that off dude.

thanks guys !
eric i STRONGLY suggest you listen to the original .. it's definately up in my top 5 solos of all time it's amazing !
if anyone else wants a shot at pulling it off i have the backing
don't have the tab though ... although it's a great little figure to solo over

Re: Ladies night in buffalo
Your playing reeks of Steve Vai!
Nice work on the pinched harmonics, palm muted playing and fast picking...

Re: Ladies night in buffalo
I know the original like the back of my hand. It resonates in my mind's ear as I write this, and your work is as close to it as possible if one tries to capture Vai's approcah without being like it note for note.
I think I'rather listen to an interpretation than a pure, note for note copy.
In other words, you did a bang-up job with this one, because it's your work!

Re: Ladies night in buffalo
Well, I was playing the solo over in my head while I was downloading it.
Then I opened your file, and my, my. This is real close, and I don't mean that in a bad way at all. Tone, feel and playing, you have it nailed, but you haven't gone note for note, you've added your own changes.
However, the "hooks" in the original solo are still incorporated into your interpretation.
You can have no complaints with this.
I'd urge anyone else who hasn't listened to the original to do so so that you can realise what CC and I are talking about. This really great work.
A good example of how to sound like someone, without exactly sounding like them, if you know what I mean...

Re: Ladies night in buffalo
Stiglar,
I finally found some time to listen to this one.
I heard it first, and noticed that you gave it your own interpretation. Then I listened to the original, because I thought that I could remember what you did a bit different, but it was so long ago (over five months) that I listened to the original that I started to hesitate what was exactly different.
Finally I listend to your solo again and now I was confident of the changes......
Like Mondola and Canyon Carver said: You captured him very well.
And do not forget the following: Even Vai wouldn't play this solo live exactly the same! I think Vai himself would put the solo live between your version and the album version.
In other words: A great compliment and you had a lot of guts to play this.
When you perform this live, I'm convinced you got a lot of people shivering!!
I hope you had a good time doing this and you did a wonderful job!

Re: Ladies night in buffalo
thanks sin !
that's a real nice compliment you just gave me !
i will perform this live one ONE DAY Hehe
problem is finding muscians that will play it hehe most people well make that pretty much all musicians my age are in pop punk bands and even the "original" bands that are around may as well be named : Blink 183 , Blink 184 etc .
but having said that a new band may be on the horizon with should be cool !
Thanks again sin !

Re: Ladies night in buffalo
I dig it,, little less pitchy than Vai's and maybe ya need a tone more distortion, but I tell ya bro, the end where you are getting it kicks ass..
wish I could play that well..
nice job bro!!!
