One I\'m working on - give feedback

Copied this post from the old site for new members - if you were at the old site, you've probably heard it already.

This is an old groove I've had for a while. probably ten years or so. It's very heavily influenced by Vai's "Viv Woman" from his Flexable album.

Anyway, the working title right now is RumpShake, and it will have a wah figure over it as soon as I finish it up. It will also have a break in the middle to cut loose with the actual lead.

Tell me what you think about the basic structure.

Dude, this post got lost in the mix. I was digging around and here it is! Anyway it's a tune, very well mixed as is all of your stuff. I like the guitar sound that you came up with for this and the orchestra hits. The drums sound a little too perfect or techno like.

That was a real problem with working on that because I couldn't get the time resolution I wanted on the drum tracks and get some grace notes to fit the time correctly. When I refine the tune I'll try to get a live drum line or at least have an a drummer program a drum machine for me.

Re: One I\'m working on - give feedback

I downloaded it again, because I couldn't remember which song you were talking about..... And I'm glad I did, so I can write the comments underneath...... LOL

The first real hit of the drum machine did remind me of the middle part of "Owner of a lonely heart" from YES. Also the last hit brought me that memory....

And yes, Viv Woman was indeed flying through my mind.

Nice job and I remember I heard it earlier indeed (on the old site) and then also I thought you had a nice dry distortion sound to me!

Now I'm relistening again because you asked about the basic structure......

Structure: Intro - Verse - Chorus - Dynamic rest - Verse - Chorus - End
(These are my therms to identify the structure)

For the length it has a normal structure. If you are planning to make the song longer I would add a different thing after the 2nd chorus and come back with that chorus theme. But I really don't know how to describe it..... Maybe a different verse, or a sololike piece of music, where you start with the verse, but then a complete note higher and modulate back to the original hight....

Sorry, but I have a language problem in describing this.

But if you want to keep this length, keep this structure!!
