Reworked VH-style Tune

Here's a reworked version of my VH-inspired original tune. Still in the works at this time, but here's what it sounds like so far...

Re: Reworked VH-style Tune

Dude - I fricken love this tune. I actually liked the first version better, to be honest, but this is a VERY cool rhythm part. I recommend speeding it up a bit, but that is just my opinion.

I wish you could use my drum stuff, though - I don't like the drum sounds or the programming at all. A really good drum track would kick ass on this tune.

Well done, bro! Can't wait to hear the finished track w/solo and all the trimming...

Oh yeah, I like the tone better on the first version as well. I think you have a phase 90 going on this one and to me it is just too much for rhythm parts.

Guilty as charged, you're right on all counts, but here's the real story:
I went home for lunch and botched this thing in 20 minutes today.
I scrolled through the presets on the drum machine for 10 minutes, trying to find something suitable and ended up going for this mind-numbing sequence because I was running out of time. Plus there are no fills or breaks: same reason.
Secondly, I've been Phaser-happy for the past few days, just because I managed to put some balls back into the Dunlop reussie MXR Phase 90 by tweaking the pot inside.
Again, I'm acting like a horny teenager on his first date with the cheerleader with the big tits, as I shoot my load with abandon and cluelesness. In other words I may want to try and use the phaser only on somes segments to see if it works better that way. But I dig the tone soooooo much!
As for the speed, I don't feel that the tempo is too slow, it's the drum part that's heavy and luggish I believe. I'll research that too.

Anyway, as I delve deeper into this tune I find new stuff to add, old repetitive stuff to remove, and the story goes on...

We'll see what comes up next.

Thanks for the constructive criticism.

Thanks, bro! I can't tell you how good it feels to be able to make stuff sound cool enough for ohers to take notice.
I hope me head isn't getting too big though....

I have to agree w/ psycho, also to many effects. i like your tone from the first version better. also, try adding some fills, so its no just all rhythm. but other than that good job man.

Re: Reworked VH-style Tune

What this thing needs is lyrics, so I can fall back in the background from time to time and come back.
I haven't tackled the fills yet, because I'm still trying to master the rythm that's not exactly set in stone yet.
Fills will be fun though.

Hey CanyonCarver. Cool tune. Good guitar sound. If you don't mind me asking, what number delay setting do you use. Sounds like somewhere around 265 or something.

Thanks, I'm crazy for that tune too.
I set the delay manually by tapping on the tempo button of the amp, but my guess is that it's about half a second...

Re: Reworked VH-style Tune

Thanks! I'll be playing it to my mates tonight during our bi-weekly jam. We may be able to record it live too.
