Some metal MP3s from my first band (recorded 1993)These are songs from my first bands CD "No Peace On Earth". Now, these songs are crude, old, 80's metal style. No real advanced musical ideas or anything. I am actually a little shy about them because the stuff is so far below what I do now. However I posted a couple at the request of a former bandmate on another site and I could not believe the positive responses I got.
It is full on heavy metal cheese. Operatic singer (if you hate Metal Church, Crimson Glory, Queensryche, etc... then don't even bother listening to these). This was my first band but through them I got to do a lot of cool things and play with a lot of bands, both major label signed bands and "A circuit" bands. We had a super cheesey over the top stage show with lasers, 4 foot drum riser, intelligent track spots, obnoxiously loud PA, flash pods, dry ice, etc....... But it was so fun back then. We were sorrounded by death metal, grunge and rap bands and were trying to hold down the fort for this style of music. Drugs and women ruined us, but it was a great ride, we got more pu$$y than I can ever remember, free drugs (a bad thing in hind sight) and had such a blast, one long 3 year party. All guitar solos were first take improv, I never even got to hear them back until we got the first batch of CDs. I had nothing to do with the poor production on this, I just wrote and played the guitar parts.... Here are some notes: Judgement Day: solo was meant to sound like 2 guitarists trading licks, ala Iron Maiden, but instead what turned out was a solo with 4 unrelated sections. Blessed By The Dark.... nothing to say, I actually still like it. SIN: shred solo, no musical merit, but that's what I was into at the time. Trapped: the chorus is annoying, but you should hear a crowd sing it!!!! False Prophet: singer and I were watching the WACO raid and I wrote a little poem about it, that night in practice we wrote the tune. It is my favorite of the 5 songs structurally and I like the layered guitar thing I did in the middle. So say what you will, it matters not to me, this music is generations removed from what I am capable of today. That said, hope you like......
