Take The 316 TrainOK, here's my all-out homage to Ed, which was a ton of fun to do. All of the EVH stuff is intentional - the tone, the licks, the sound effects ... everything. Once again, my penchant for "concept" recording rears its' head, with the train effects and driving locomotive-like beats. Hope you guys enjoy it, and I'll get back to posting non-VH-inspired tunes next time.

Re: Take The 316 TrainNice Wolfman, the production of this song is excellent. I like the way you fade things from left to right and there are a lot of nicely mixed dynamics, there is definately a theme to this song.

Re: Take The 316 TrainThanks for the kind comments guys - I remixed it to fix a few flubs (IMO) and reloaded it. The lead was little trebly due to the phaser I was using, so I fixed that best as I could without making it too dead. Also fixed the fadeout because it was not what I was trying to achieve the first time around.

Re: Take The 316 TrainNice concept piece!!
But..... ( I hardly dare to say this ).... It sounded like sometimes your guitar drowns a bit in the reverb, but I can be wrong (it is getting late over here......). Or it can be the intention.... Anyway, Great playing! Love it! Don't be afraid to post more VH sounding stuff....... |

Re: Take The 316 TrainThanks sIN - that's actually unintentional with the drowning out deal. It wasn't intentional by any means, but here's why it's like that:
The lead parts were recorded with the Phase 90, which boosts the treble level a lot by nature. After listening to it together, homeunit and I decided it needed some EQ to balance it out with the rest of the tracks. After applying some graphic equalization to the track, it kind of deadened the sweep of the Phaser and the reverb so I added a hint of auxillary reverb to the track. While the tone benefitted from all of this, it gave me the result of what you are saying, unfortunately. No worries though - just something for me to remember if I record with the Phaser again.
