THE BLUE DOOR is a hard rock album which I wrote, produced, and performed in it's entirety. There are no guest musicians on this. I also used no Roland Grooveboxes on this, but rather built the drum tracks from scratch. Keys, guitars, vocals, b/u vox on everything, and I played the theremin on the opening and closing tracks. I recorded and mixed on a Roland 24 track digital.
There are basically 6 songs which are book-ended by the opening and closing tracks which are instrumentals (The Blue Door, Parts 1 & 2). "Just Don't Care" is a hardcore heavy metal type number with some pretty explicit and in-your-face kind of lyrics. Inserted here and there in the song are also some additional lyrics about the LA Riots from a very old song. "U Take Me Down Strange Roads" is about a woman who does just that, lol. "Lost My Way" is one of my favorites which I still play live, a nice rock jam. At the time I was going thru a lot of grief and mourning over the loss of my mom a year prior and also had just broken up with someone. This is expressed in that song. "Wait, Some More Guitars Please" is a short instrumental which breaks up the first half of the album into the second. "Slipping Away" is a well-written ballad about being depressed about the things I was going thru. Things liven up for the hard rock "I Wanna Jump Into The Movie" about my love of feature films.
The album was received very well by my fans and is a favorite with a lot of people. It's one of my most accessible and I think because of a lot of the heartfelt feelings that went into it just landed up coming together and gelling really well.
