Trower inspired groove. Invasion from Planet K
 INVASION FROM PLANET K
Rough mix of a new track. I intentionally left lots of space with the playing, I dug the riffs so much I wanted to let those do the work for the track. I am useing a 1972 Carlsbro TR60 head, ( Plexi with cream and suger to my ears) I got this head from Terry Kilgore, who has really showed me the ropes in regards to old rock tones. I am a Trower freak and wanted to try and capture the mood. I wanted the mix to sound like it was done in about 1974.

Thanks man,
I blatantly copped his tone..lol I didn't want my interpretation of the tone, I WANTED THEE TONE!! That Carlsbro is just amazing. If I could take a time machine back I would hit Pasadena in about 1973/74. Those 70s sounds just do it for me!!
Thanks again

Hey Thanks!! Really appreciate it!! Here is a pic of my oddball collection of amps. My Plexi RI, 1971 Traynor Bassmaster ( Plexi Clone),1972 Carlsbro TR60, and my latest and perhaps greatest a 1963 Gibson Mercury and Matching 2/12 only 400 were made and this one is a 9 out of 10. 285.00 for the whole package and this amp freakin rocks. I couldn't believe my ears when I heard it for the first time.

That is one funky groove! I love all that power raking! I'll but your neck gets tired when you are playing that one!
Nice!
Was that a police siren I heard in that break near the end? You remind me of Hendrix with that one.

Hey Rid we are at all the same haunts!! Thanks again. These amps are all over Britain on the cheap according to Tube Tramp. Here in the states they are tough to come by. I may just have the only one here in Minnesota. The techs don;t even know what the hell to do with them, they can't find the schematics....

Thanks man!!
The pickups are off the shelf, I have a Tokai Tele with a Fender Deltatone in the neck, ( that is the main riff) extremely underrated pickup IMO. Then for the lead stuff I am useing a Duncan 59 with an A2 magnet in place of the A5.
The Cbro is a great amp with a few tweaks, I was told how to use the reverb tube as a gain stage and it made all the difference in the world with that amp. The natural sustain is beautiful even with low gain. Really creamy tones. The amps are damn near impossible to find unless you ship from the UK. I have a TR60, the Top 50 and Top 100 are cool as well ( they are just now being reissued by Carlsbro) For the Trower, Band of Gypsy's type tone this amp is tough to beat. Really lucky I came across it!
Thanks again!

Gotta love da funk, I listen to tons of James Brown and it greatly effects even my approach to rock playing. My shoulders got tired when I was tracking the Bass, I try to play it as hard as I can and it gets tiring fast, I only play the bass when I track so the extran length and weight I really feel.
At the end of the track I was useing a tape delay ( reissue) and we were messing with the time as the guitar was feedbacking, is was loud as hell. The high notes were just screaming!!
I really appreciate the kind words!
Kevin
