What IS Real Anyway?
Cormack inspired me with his way cool slide guitar song "Red Rooster" that I had to prove to myself that I can still play slide guitar.
I put this little piece together this morning. Gotta hit the road tomorrow
There are 2 separate acoustic tracks, one left and one right. Then the slide part is just recorded in stereo.
What do ya think Cormack?
BTW - Here is a second version that sounds like it's being played out of an old Phonograph.

Straight off the bat i have to say i love the recorded sounds you get out of acoustic guitars , i remember doing our classical guitar battle and your sound was so crisp and this is no exception ! Awesome sound !
I love slide guitar , especially acoustic slide like this , I'm very jealous cause i suck big time at it !
Nice work PJ

Yeah Pj... is that you playing all the guitars? The sound quality is excellent to my ears as well. Did you write this instrumental? If yes... I'm very impressed. If no... I'm just impressed with the sound quality and thought your slide solo was a perfect fit for the rhythm guitars. If you wrote this... get it uploaded at musicsupervisor.com - and I highly recommend you record a bunch more originals just like this... very professional !

Wow, thanks a lot Stiglar!
Ya know what though? I recorded this in a totally different way than I usually do. For most of my acoustic work I used a desktop mic, but for this track I tried using my SM58 on a tripod, hooked directly into my 8 tracker.
It seemed to work just fine, I was worried about the sound at first.
If you need any tips on slide playing, just hit me up! I'd be glad to help out!
Once again, thanks a lot for the comment Stig. .

Thanks 3 Fingers! And thanks for the comment!
I tried to pan the guitars in different areas this time - to make it sound a little different. Instead of having all the guitars just panned hard right, and hard left.
Thank you 3 Fingers for the listen!

Your right! I admit it! I am off in a couple of areas.
The problem here was that this track was more of an experiment than a finished piece of work. I was mainly testing out a new way to record my acoustic guitars.
When I get back from the road, I need to sit down and put something like this together a little better musically speaking.
Thank you for your comments Dreams. . I really appreciate it!
BTW - Theres a bar in Dallas called "Dreams". I've spent a few nights in that place. .

Yeah it's me Jim - testing a new way to record my acoustics. Yeah I wrote it so to speak. I can do it better than this, but I was more into testing the record process for the acoustic guitars.
I'm pretty picky about how an acoustic guitar should sound. It's gotta have life in it. It's gotta sound like a bell ringing. I'm pretty happy with the sound I got here - so I think I've figured out how to record acoustic with my 8 tracker.
When I get back, I promise I will make more songs like this. Better musically speaking.
Thanks for the comment Jimmy. .

Phonograph Version of What IS Real Anyway
Here's something I did just for fun - I made a version of this song to make it sound like it's being played out of an old phonograph.
It kind of sounds like an old time radio broadcast too. It didn't take too long to make, maybe someone will like it!

Best piece you have posted here. There are a couple of little glitches (sync of both the guitar parts nothing major.) But the vibe is honest with a beautiful tone. Yep best piece you have posted here
5 O's
