Its a silly idea. This site has been around for a looooooooong time. The admins and mods know what they are doing. We know Prince doesn't eff around with his work being distributed without his control. Why draw attention to any potential unauthorized distribution with a Prince-only section?

Like I said the other day - I am sure that Prince and his lawyers and the people he hires to track his copyrighted material across the net are already aware that certain shows can be shared for free at G101. Before you guys got here, MadFunk was upping a lot of great stuff and PoomPoom before him. Now you want to make a seperate forum that can be found on any search engine with the entire catagory of Prince boots and out-takes available? I'm sure the powers that be will not be so lenient in enforcing thier rights in such a situation. Obviously, there is a LOT more than Prince being shared here. A good amount of Prince thrown in with all the rest of the stuff that's out there and Prince probably doesn't mind so much.

Nothing personal, and you guys know I am digging all the shows you have been uploading, but this idea is just pushing our collective luck way too far. We are already lucky Prince hasn't sent a DMCA takedown demand to the admins. My opinion is "if it ain't broke, don't fix it", or, rather, lets not do anything to make the Purple One change his mind about his shows being shared here for free. I've already bought all the official releases going back to 1985 when I bought Purple Rain and these live shows are where its AT!!

I totally agree with you, FHS but i think you misunderstand what I said. It wasn't a separate upload forum getwild was after. Just a place to chat and talk Prince. That's all!

Mmm, considering all your input and the fact that we can chat and talk prince at other sites like HQ and Org I am in favor of the "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" approach and hope the Websherrif leaves this site alone.

Again, i agree with you! But i think people are forgetting it was just an idea! And anyway I think this thread has served it's purpose in creating debate. Ha! I think we should just drop it now and resume normal business!

Only concern I have is the 160kbps or greater uploads. I'd say 80% of what I have is 128kps. It'd be a shame to leave good recordings languishing on my hard drive just because they're not at a high bitrate.

You can always ask the mods. Or re-compress them at the higher rate (i know that's a pain but it doesn't take too long!

No no no no no.

Once you have compressed a file to 128kbps, you can never put it back to anything higher. Yes you can, but it was always be 128 even if you convert it to 320.
