Crazy Mods Here

So VB, why the attack on me and NRoberts?

You blame me and NRoberts for the closing of a thread?

This one:

http://www.guitars101.com/forums/showthr...623#post401623

"Well you can post in another one..... Cuz this ones closed.. Thank PJ , and Nroberts for this one folks."

What are you trying to do by acting this way?

Obviously you have no idea what the meaning of free thinking is in the spirit of an RBBS system.

You closed this thread not because it was getting out of hand - but because you are pushing your weight around like a bar bouncer - not to mention the fact that you are being mean spirited about the whole thing.

VB - Anyone who would use thier mod position to act like a little kid doesn't deserve the title. You use your mod status to win arguments which is exactly what your NOT supposed to do as a mod. How old are you anyway?

Eric - is this the type of behavior you encourage in your mods? What was SO damn wrong with the thread that it needed to be closed down? And then VB blames it on me and NRoberts? Is that what PAYING MEMBERS should expect from you and your mods?

In my opinion, you were just begging to have that thread closed with your responses and the way you just kept pushing your luck.

As Mods, our actions are governed by and guided by the webmaster, in this case, ericgtr. NOT by whatever your generic idea of an RBBS system should be.

As such, if there is a problem with the way we act, rest assured, eric will let us know about it, but I don't see that this will apply in this case as it seems myself, the mods and indeed most of the users would have been able to see the thread closure from a mile off.

VB used his Mod status to close a thread that yourself and nroberts were escalating out of control. That seems like good Mod management to me.

And don't pull the paying member privilidge card on us. We were all paying members and most still are as Mods and do this job out of the good of our hearts. We put up with a lot of stick as a result of it, this thread being one of these examples.

But it keeps us on our toes...

Is there something that I am missing in that thread? Because, from what I can see, PeeJay and NRoberts were just trying to have a nice, civil conversation and there wasn't any real need to close the thread up on PeeJNay for essentially asking "what am I doing wrong"?

I had always thought that this place invited at atmosphere of freedom of communication and expression. If this isn't so, please let me know so that I may move on to other pastures. Thanks!

Theres about a years worth of banter. arguing and dead horse beating in the thread. I simply asked them to give it a rest... I also checked with Eric prior to closing the thread and did so with his permission.
Theres no reason to move on Ulnie.
As far as being a paid member Peejay. if you notice im a platinum member. and have contributed financially to this site more times than is ever mentioned.
If this is your call to arms or a mutiny.. then maybe its time for you to move to another site where you are more free to express your opinions.

He was about to close that thread as it was, then it was pushed over the edge. I could see that coming a mile away and I don't blame him at all for doing it, I saw that and almost did it myself.

Everyone is human, even mods. I obviously agree with you but this is what life is like with other humans. Let VB blame me if he wants, don't bother me none.

Thank you Ulnarian for stepping out and backing me up on this. You showed that you are a true leader by doing so.

Thanks again.

Thanks to everyone for being so civilised in this whole matter, noticing what a good job us Mods do, and for generally all getting along and allowing us to move on from this...

Everyone, give yourselves a pat on the back !

The bias around here is so strong it's down right laughable.

I found this nice article here:

http://www.sitepoint.com/article/sup...erator-guide/3

If they display a lack of tolerance or show major biases
Depending on your forum subject, many topics can get offensive in nature and very sensitive. For example, topics like religion are notorious for attracting fanatics who rant their opinions. If a moderator joins in, rants their own biased opinions, locks topics they don't agree with, or edits posts because they don't like them, then you have a problem. To be effective, your moderators should remain objective during heated discussions, and try to calm things down before they get themselves into a fight.

If they abuse their power
Locking or editing topics that the moderator doesn't agree with is a type of
power abuse that's more common than you'd think. You usually won't notice because you can't tell what they've edited or deleted unless a member comes out and complains. Again this can be controlled by solid rules and guidelines for your moderators and the rest of the members.

I personally would like to know WHY the forum was locked out? What did it matter if we were talking about a topic that was old? Are you running low on disk space or something Eric? What was the real reason the thread was closed? To say it was closed because it was "old news" is nothing but a cop out.

VB is another one of your Mods that has personally attacked me in the past - same with Axeshredder. I have never had any talks or messages to or about VB at any time. Yet he has attacked me in the past and goes unchecked. So you can see where I'm going here. He closed the thread not because the thread was old news - but because he doesn't like me and wanted to push some weight around. WHat a great moderator - it's so plain as day I can't believe your so blind.

Just another reason for this site to NOT have debates about topics which are important. Talk about being a weakling.

Especially when everyone around here say's "Oh that was a great tune you did! It was so great!" when in reality the tune sucked all the way around.

You all can hide from real criticism if you want to - that way the truth will never hurt you - but you will also never improve as a guitarist. (or a singer)

I don't know why I came back - maybe for a while. But I just don't agree with a lot of things around here - thats why I left.

I've noticed when I was here that a lot of you all DO hide behind the curtain of not really telling people how thier playing REALLY is. (Or singing) Just to save them the horror of knowing the truth. Thats wrong..

See here we go again.

Not wanting to deal with the subject at hand.

But you prove my point - abuse is all you have.

Once again Pee Jay, you are beating a dead horse, which is why the original thread you are complaining about was closed in the first place.

You openly admit you don't "get" this site, yet you continue to return all the time, only to moan and try to undermind what we have going here.

It's just old news, erehashed again and again and again.

Stirring up old shit is just not gonna get anyone anywhere, yet you persist to do it...

Disagreeing and allowing a topic that's two years old to continue with a bunch of pointless ranting are two completely different things. Guys, please stop trying to hide behind the freedom of speech thing every time something doesn't go your way. That thread was redundant and old so VB put it to rest, we reserve the right to do that here and don't mold our guidelines from one specific site that a user points out because he feels it favors him.

Also, being a paying member does not give anyone extra privilates in ranting in threads, it gives you extra space for uploading files and the ability to change your user title, no more.
