Is there a special reason why I can't vote in polls?
It says I have insufficient priviledges or something...I understand if I have to wait a bit, but I'd like to know.

You have to have been a member for 7 days before you can vote. This is so people cannot abuse the polling system with the contests, battles etc. If I allowed users to register and vote right away I can guarantee people would register several names to cast votes for themselves, in fact that's why I had to implement it.

That is just sad.
How can you know they haven't registered a bunch of names and just waited? Do you look for voting patterns?
Seems to me that common etiquette demands that you vote for you opponent in something like this.

eric...i've also noticed that people have voted "invisibly"...ie)...you'll see a battle with a couple of comments...along with the actual combatants' entries...for a grand total of let's say 4 posts...but then you'll see that 17 people voted...just who are these invisible vote casters...???...they could be friends of one of the participants that sway the results to the favour of the more "popular" player...not necessarily the more "skilled" player...thanks - paul...

They could be but it's unlikely, there's no fool proof method. The best I can do is to make it so they have to be registered for a certain amount of time before being able to vote. Still, people are free to vote without commenting so I doubt there is anything else to it with that.

Guilty...
I have really only voted once, and I didn't post to the forum. It is hard for me to say one is better than the other usually because all I see is differences in style. But when I did vote I didn't really see any reason to post or make sure everyone knew I voted.
I see your point, but on the other hand you could consider that people might not want to vote /against/ their friend if voting was made more public.

That is exactly right and also why it's not viewable, I think if we allowed it we would see a lot less votes.

I vote without posting Jimmy.Actually, I do it all the time. I think is called freedom of choice... Sometimes i hear the song and i don't vote, because it sucks...that's also called freedom of choice. Precisely the anonimity allows friends and foes to vote without having to take sides...or not to vote...which is also a type of freedom....

I didn't vote in either of the battles I took part in. Otherwise, if each person votes for the other, then it's not "first to N wins", it's "first to N-1" wins.
Isn't it ?
