Site slowdowns at night

During the evenings at around 9:00 pm (PST) the site has been slowing to a crawl and in some cases it's unusable. This is because we have a nightly backup system and all the MP3 files are being backed up along with everything else, this causes a huge draw on the server and in processing power but it's a must have on a dynamic site like this.

I am currently working on a script that will ignore the actual .mp3 files and backup the rest of the site, I don't have an eta at the moment but I will bump this when I do. This should help things get back to normal.

lol keith ! I did notice late yesterday afternoon it was quite slow and I have cable . Hope ya get it fixed soon ! Site still rocks tho !

eric, I donut know what you use for backing up, or your setup for that matter, but some of my fortes are backups, particularly legato, SAN and storage, and system design and architecture. If I could be of any help with a question or something, just ask.
