Thread Ratings Changes? Please vote :)
The current thread rating system works on the basis that 5 star (or circle) rating is displayed instantly. This means we have loads of threads all coming up as 5 star threads.
However we have an alternate system which makes the vote cumulative. Therefore it only displays the votes after 5 people have rated the thread. I may have the details wrong so I will get Eric to clarify on this thread, but the gist of it is it would be more representative of what members think. The current system means that the thread starter can rate his/her own thread with 5 stars, which is a little deceptive IMHO.
I believe this would make the thread ratings more applicable and hopefully more people would take note of them. But it ain't up to me - its up to you guys
So it goes to the vote. Either stay as it is or give the new system a try.
Your choice
poll will remain open until we get a clear indication of public opinion.

Good that this has gone to a poll. Change it I say. At the moment it's either no stars where people haven't commented or 5 stars. It doesn't really help you get a picture of what people think. At the same time, many don't leave replies...tackle that issue where you have to at least acknowlege you HAVE listened and the points system may be worthy.

For me, comments have been the best indicator if anyone liked it or not. I like having the ratings, but I am up with you guys wanting something better/newer/more indicative. I could also go for dropping it completely to be honest. Thanks for putting this to a vote. Let the people speak.

I frankly don't even pay attention to thread ratings. I just read what I think might interest me.

I think you guys are working on the right direction. If it were for me, I´d live to listen to everyone as possible, no more than 4 or 5 feedbacks-responses for whoever, and just let the music flow, but I guess thats just another utopy,

I think it is pretty clear cut.
As JPF says - there are loads of threads that instantly get 5 stars. I think the thread rating should actually mean something so I reckon the new system is a go-er. I like the idea that people can instantly know that a cool thread has been posted because at least 5 people have rated it as a cool thread. Rather than a noob rating his own thread as a 5 Circle/Star post and misleading people that it has been rated by someone else.

Okay, a thread must have at least 5 ratings before it will be displayed.
