For the MARSHALL lovers!Found this old photo from my halycon days as I was getting stuff prepared for my new web site. This is 1982 and I was using 3 100w Marshall Superleads and 2 50w Master Volume heads with 6 4 x 12 cabs ...All I remember is the air hitting you in the back! Oh and the guitar was a Ibanez Paul Stanley Autograph with mirror scratchplate...nice!

Re: For the MARSHALL lovers!Sold 'em in the pursuit of more beer! Downgraded and downgraded and bought guitars and went on holidays and...fuck knows! Yeah, met Maiden a few times. Yan Gers was from Hartlepool about 6 miles from my hometown and our bands (White Spirit and Black Rose) used to meet on the circuit. Yan was a hero to me as he was the first person I saw REALLY play the guitar-he was Blackmore mad and wore the same clothes etc. I remember seeing Maiden in a small club in 1981 and I met Yan outside...his band had tried to get back from a gig to check 'em out. He asked me what they were like and I said 'They were good mate but you guys have nothing to worry about'! Some 50 million albums later Yan got the call and I had to laugh as White Spirit went into obscurity and Maiden took off BIG-TIME! That night I saw them, they only had Dave Murray on guitar and, believe it or not, he did 'Eruption' as his solo spot!

Check my new site out in a week or so and it'll all be on there...old photos, mp3's, an updateable news page and a forum or messageboard. Been working hard to get it down before my brain gives in!!! I can't remember why I've done this except that you pronounce it as the 'Y'...fuck! Imagine spelling someone's name wrong you saw and met a good few times since 1977! |
