Did you strip the old paint down to the wood first? How did you get the cavities in the body so clean? This guitar looks like it just came off the assembly line. Wonderful work again!

Thanks so much!
I started sanding, but noticed that the last paintjob was painted over the original paintjob, and I didn't think three paintjobs on one body was a very good idea. So I stripped it all down to the wood, cavities and all.
I used chemical stripper for the cavities and a great deal of the body, however that stuff will melt binding and position markers, so I used sandpaper on everything else.

When the owner got the guitar back, he commented on how much better it sounded.
I really think this had alot to do with removing all of that old paint.
Just my theory.

Yeah i'll also comment fantastic work dino. When the faded finish wears off my Flying I wouldnt mind you doing the restoration pity you are too far away bro. I love the black and white scheme and I also like the first pic of the guitar sanded down to the bare wood that would look cool natural finish, but I thought that if I had it done I would keep it same as MS scheme but in cherry and white might look nice........... any thoughts on that
cheers

I personally don't think a cherry and white MS paintjob would look very good, but that's just my opinion.
Also, getting a good paint match to do the pickgaurd and truss rod cover "cherry" would be tough unless ... you could find some sort of mahogany lamenate, cut out a pickgaurd and truss rod cover, stain it cherry, then paint the other halves and clear em.

Hmmm .... maybe that wouldn't look too bad after all.

I kinda liked the bare wood look too.
As a matter of fact, I'm doing a 5150 build now with no paint.
Just bare wood. Nothing pretty, nothing fancy.
It'll be my "workhorse".
