Re: Homunit\'s pre Rec rigJesus Christ !!
What the hell have you done to the Music Man / Axis / Whatever guitar it is ? Is that a mod that you did yourself / had someone else perform on it, or did you buy it like this ? Also, what modification did you do ? That guitar is gorgeous by the way ? Hey, hold on... Did you build this yourself ? Nice setup though. What is the reddy-orange MXR pedal (as opposed to the Phase 90) ? In fact, tell me everything, what are all of the pedals ??? |

Re: Homunit\'s pre Rec rigHey there is my amp(I bought it from him)!!! I think MM is a custom guitar he had made. The wooden block with the switch is a for the amp to change channels.
One of them might be a digital delay, tuner, acoustic simulator, sparkle drive and a mxr flanger. |

Re: Homunit\'s pre Rec rigCheers Onrib.
It's a nice looking axe, whatever it is. I was confused with the pedal in the upper right hand corner, that I initially thought was a Phase 100, but then I thought, what would he want a Phase 100 for when he already has a Phase 90 ? WHich is why I then thought it is probably a Compressor... |

Re: Homunit\'s pre Rec rigThat is the modded amp that he had for sale in the VHforums. I bought it a couple of months ago. It is a great amp. It runs at 50 watts and can be switched to 25 watts also for home use. It also has a different panel in the back for running the amp in clean mode. It is currently getting new power tubes and I am picking it up tonight. I will take a picture of the back later to show what I am talking about.
It was funny when I dropped off the amp the tech was like "WTF???? is going on with this amp?" I explained to him what the amp does and his jaw just dropped. BTW I am not one with electricity so that is why I am having someone else bias the amp. |

Re: Homunit\'s pre Rec rigYou'll have to let me know how it sounds with the new tubes Tom. I loved that amp but I needed to money to help pay for an engagement ring...at least she said yes!
The guitar was handmade by a guy out east. The guy is even more of a tone nut than me. He started by going to the lumber yard and tapping 1000 different pieces of Birdseye maple , (neck), and 1000 different pieces of mahogany (body) to find the pieces that sound the best. After that he shaped the body and neck to the exact specs of an EVHMM. The neck is the same shape but it's bigger overall. I have big hands and while I love the shape of the original EVH it's just too damned small, so what he did was measure the neck of an original EVH and just left it a little bigger. Mine still has less wood around the 2-3 fret on one side just like the original. It worked out perfect for me. The pickups that are in it are real low output ones, (Seth Lovers) that have had the metal caps removed and the bridge p/u was lightly wax potted. The angling of the bridge p/u is for tone. These are vintage p/u's and are not "trem" or "F" spaced so the angle accommodates for it. The single in the middle is an old Duncan p/u and with the 5 way switch really makes the guitar versatile. With the maple top and neck it really gives you that nasally definition but the mahogany really adds the whoomp. I’m really pleased with it. I don’t have to Robin anymore (more ring money, lol) but am getting the same guy to build me an exact replica of a 57 strat so I’m pretty excited about that. I think the only other guitar that I’ll want anytime soon will be a Les Paul or some variant of one. PRS has a pretty sharp looking single cut model. OK, the pedal board is from top left to right, a DD 3 delay, DC-3 digital dimensions, which I got rid of, a MXR Dyna Comp which rules, a TU-2 Tuner, Sparkle Drive which is collecting dust now, MXR Flanger, AC2 acoustic simulator, which is on it’s way to England, the wood deal is the channel switcher for the amp, and of course a phase 90. That stuff all worked great with the Marshall because it’s such an honest and good sounding amp. With my Rec I had to downsize. Some of that stuff just doesn’t work with it. The acoustic simulator sounded like shit so it’s gone as did the digital dimensions. The clean channel in the Reco’s are so good (IMO) that I don’t need them. I also found a considerable tone loss running all that shit that I didn’t really notice so much with the Marshall so I went for the less is more route. The Sparkle Drive is not in the loop because the Recto has 3 channels as well as a Solo boost so I have yet to find a need for it, but it is one the best sounding overdrive pedals I’ve ever used. |

Re: Homunit\'s pre Rec rigCongrats on the engagement!!!!
Here is the backside of the amp. I just got the amp back from being retubed and it totally kicks ass. The new tubes made it even better. I cut back heavly on the pre-amp and amp and it is great. I will try to get a sample up soon. |
