Re: J-Mart\'s gearWay to go!
Is it a Line 6 modulation modeler or dist modeler? |

Re: J-Mart\'s gearDelay modeler. To get the early VH sound, you have to have an echo in front of the amp...you have to. Eddir used an echoplex for years before the 5150 amp. People may disagree, but it is the key!

Re: J-Mart\'s gearSweet gear, J-Mart. I was reading the above thread about the delay. It may be because of the delay that I'm using (Boss DM2) - but I seem to get a better sound going through the effects loop on my 5150 than when I go straight to the front. But, I'll try experimenting some more going through the front of the amp.
I've been wanting to get one of those Line6 delays, because it has the Maestro Echoplex emulation - and I've heard that it even do the "flutter" and "wow" sounds that a tape echo gives you. Also, what is that other rack mount device sitting on top of your cabinet? Peace, dude. |

Re: J-Mart\'s gearThe unit is a Lexicon MPX-500. I use that when I'm just playing for some reverb. I don't use it recording, or at least not yet.
As far as the echo thing. If you listen to ain't talkin' there is a little slap back. That is all I use it for. It will sound more modern in the loop (and better). |

Re: J-Mart\'s gearI'll bet your first thought was, "Finally! Now I can take a picture of my gear and post on VHFans.com!!!!" I know that's what I thought when I got one as an early birthday present!

Re: J-Mart\'s gearThats an OLD Marshall J-Mart! My first Superlead cost me £65 second hand in 1979. The guy selling it thought it was 'a mushell I think'...I went round and tore his arm off! Have you ever tried a Marshall 45W Superlead? I have a mate who is an 'Angus' in a AC/DC trib called AB/CD (!) and he has one...very rare and amazing sound! Re: J-Mart\'s gearNice gear. The tone from it kicks ass. Do you go through the effects loop, or from guitar to effects to amp?

Re: J-Mart\'s gear The effects loop is only used when I'm just jamming in my room. I use a lexicon MPX-500 for reverb. It already had a hole drilled in the back, so I wasn't concerned about putting a loop in. When I record, the amp is recorded dry. The MXR's and line6 delay are always between the guitar and amp.
