Not very well known, compared to the big brands. made at a little workshop near Manchester, in the UK. I bought this in 1993 (s/h, it's a 1986 model) and it's a great guitar. Despite only having one pickup (mde by the same workshop) it's a great pickup and I can get a wide range of tones from it.
Unfortunately during the 90s/early 200s the quality of these instruments have gone down a bit, while producing more and starting to be a bit more visible in shops)... but if you find an earlier model you'll find it hard not to fall in love once it's in your hands :-)

what kind of musical genres is this guitar suited to ?

Think SG and you have a close approximation. It's also made of mahogany, and thin bodied, like an SG, without the neck-heaviness of the SG.
Very good basic grunting rock tone. Great AC/DC tones. Very "woody".
