It's a no-name strat replica body and neck. Genuine Fender tuners and bridge, WD scratchplate and a Seymour Duncan 59. Pics of the project are here....

Was that a rosewood finger board originally? What did you do to it?

It's a well used all maple neck. All the original laquer has worn off the fret board for that well used look!

Seemed to generate a lot of (somewhat unfair) criticism. For what it's worth, I wasn't 100% taken with your singer, but the music was fuggin' awesome

Re: My first post!!!! - VH1 Strat!!!!

No-one in Shileds was taken with him...it was his last gig anyway as his wife was due to have a baby but I stand by him as he was a good singer and he's a good mate. If you read Col Smoult's review of our demo, he says Geordie didn't sound like Dave Lee Roth-EXACTLY what we told him when I said I was sending him the demo...we thought it was a bit rich and I have come to the conclusion that Col reviews a minority of the audiences reaction and not the band. We had 246 people in and 30 left as they didn't like what we did. The others seemed to enjoy themselves but even me good mates from the North East didn't like Geordie's interpretation. It was annoying having been in Alike Cooper (which I did as a 'job) and getting a 'best tribute band we've seen' and going down to 'the future of tribute bands is in jeapordy' when this was a labour of love! What was more annoying was the talk about Geordie's wig when I looked and saw that the Ozzy tribute band up there had played and the guy looked like he had a ferret on his head! Fucking lighten up people, yer meant to be salt of the earth up where I'm from!

The bass player, Ian, is now the 'Dave' (he was originally gonna be as he's a lead vocalist/bass player) and he's Dave Lee Roth daft-it's working well but we'll steer clear of South Shields mate. Anyway, water under the bridge and all that...it's going well now and I still have a good mate out of it.

Mr Smoult has his 'favourites' (as do all the contributors to Riffs!!)and if your not in the 'click'.....well....

Good to hear it's still going well. Ian was phenomenal on the night - great showman and bass player and his backing vox were right on the money, so I can see how he'ed be a natural choice for the 'Dave' role. I know 'Shields would be a no-no, but me and the lads from my band (we stayed 'til the end at Shields ) would still like to see ya's back oop north sometime.

Re: My first post!!!! - VH1 Strat!!!!

Problem is, it sticks and don't think we would get the turnout mate. I know Lorne feels pretty similar about Smoulty. He can't wait to pick a performance apart! But, who knows, the one in Newcastle was asking a while back but never heard again...fucking promoters!

Whilst your on about tone, check out the track I did with J-Mart in Monthly MP3 Competition link ...its called Low Carb at Wah-Mart! J-Mart uses a modded Marshall and is THE best 'Edward' on the planet IMO and I used the POD xt but the pickup was the SD Hot rails on my strat as well as some of the Wolfgang which has very hot pickups!
