the avatar is my RG7421, did that as a joke when it ate pavement... i've posted pics of what it is now, its blue with a flame maple top and headcap and an ebony fingerboard, and routed out for emg's... but saving adverse opinions for a PM? thats a bit absurd, why should a thread only have the good? it shouldn't, it should show both ends of the spectrum. and i welcome that in my own threads about the guitars i've built or modified, its going to happen and its a fact of life. at least i didn't come on here saying "that guitar is crap" without having any rhyme or reason, it looks like a decent quality guitar, i just have a differing opinion on some of the things on it.
and as for that pickup idea... it is neat for sure, i have my own idea... the only thing i like about emg's is how they have the 3 pin connector on the back of the pickup... but no other manufacturer does that... i'm going to be working on a system i can easily make that would make pickup changes fairly effortless... of course it requires more work on my behalf since pickup manufacturers probably won't be doing it, but using computer style connections added to the pickups existing wiring, and possibly a small circuit board, i'd like to make a solderless setup, so the only time it needs to be soldered is when either a) the electronics are installed when its built, or b) if someone wants my idea retrofitted into an existing guitar.

I have to agree with Elysian on a few points.
A.) The headstock is awful. Its just well awful it distracts more than it attracts.
B.) The pickup gimmick makes the guitar look like some cheap crappy guitar. Althought the premise is good its just retarded. I mean seriously how/why would you want to swap pickups out all the time. Get good pickups the first time and your gold.
C.) The control plate for the knobs is so out of place and un-natural again stealing what vibe the guitar did have and making it look cheap and ugly. Why use that plate when you could of just direct mounted them with just the knobs.
Over all the guitar has some nice work done but the design is horrible. It doesnt flow. You cant say it does.. Is it original HELL YEAH but I wouldnt pay more than $200 for it no matter how it played or sounded. Its just bad cosmetic design. I may seem harsh here and I dont mean to. But you asked for opinions and I gave one.
Bottom line is if you like it, thats all that matters. Its your guitar..

Well opinions are like a$$holes... Everybody has one, and some are the embodiement of such.
With that being said, going to the guy's site that made this is pretty cool. This obviously isn't his first rodeo. Some really nice hollow bodies, and such. I think he tried to fit the rock-n-roll attitude here. The headstock doesn't bother me. Kinda looks Star Trekish to be honest. The shape of the guitar itself is very remniscent of the old Carvin type strat style neck through. Remember the DC200K I think it was? back in the late 80's.
The wood selection is first class, as is the workmanship, and finish. Congrats on the guitar, may it serve you well.

Well I have to admit I didnt expect as much negative feed back as it got, but it is what it is and I'm very happy with it. I wouldnt trade it for anything. I'm glad someone actually took the time to check out his site he makes quality guitars no doubt about it. I guess the reason I would want to change pick ups is for recording like I said. I may want to get a single coil tone for a certain song and on another song a may want some rippin gain I can do that with a simple 2 second pick up swap. Well what ever like what you like and I'll like what I like.

exactly Liberty I may have seemed harsh and that wasnt my intentions.
Its your guitar and the only person who has to be happy with it is you. And your happy so all is well.

I think it's a good looking guitar. The qulaity of the maple used on the top of the instrument is top notch. No vertical grain lines exposed which is the real sign of quality flamed maple...where ALL you see is the flames.
I don't know how I feel about the headstock... seems like a rip off of Paul Crook's Rockingbird

As far as the pickups go, hey if it works for you, awesome. I think the convinence of a plug and play modular pickup sytem is ingenious and very useful indeed. Sort of like the EMG's where they have that 3 pin connector for quick swap.
I think he could have gotten more creative with the control cavity plate though... something more radical shaped that could go with the inlays or headstock shape...
The neck and fretboard are fabulous though. Fretboard looks sort of like cocobolo.

Probably not what I would have built for myself but looks like a high quality instrument. I like the pick-up idea. Congrats to you, looks like a quality guitar. Enjoy it!

Oh hahah that's not mine. I'm just hosting them at my account for a friend.
I've got something better (Carvin C66) ....well... technically still waiting for it to show up. I've got a set of Dimarzio evolution's waiting to go in too.
