My latest project,,,,,,, The Bee
Heres my latest project. Its an 88-89 600 series Kramer , It's got a Floyd 2 thats been tweaked into service ,an early Seymour Duncan JB 4wire, and original Schaller tuners.
It started as a badly surface scratched black body. After prepping the old surface for new paint, masking stripes and laying the first 6 thin coats of yellow the paint started to come off in spots. Me being lazy I grabbed the sand paper and started to prep again but left some of the old indentions where the stripes had originally been. Re masked in a new design and grabbed a new can of black paint. After another 6 coats of acceptable paint I peeled the masking off to find a nice bumble bee looking Kramer. The old stripes sorta "ghost" under the old paint something you can see if you get the light just right and can feel. Some of the yellow stripes seemed to wide and once again a case of laziness set in. I grabbed my 1/4 inch black graphics tape and started breaking the yellow stripes with it. About 10 coats of clear to help the tape adhere and protect the paint and I was done. Its not perfect but its me.

Got to give us a sound clip when it's done! I really dig the stripes on the upper horn! I think that really emphasizes the strat-like shape of the guitar. -This discovery by dear old Edward seemed to go unnoticed by him. There is something really wicked about having three stripes on the upper horn. What kind of paint do you use?

Re: My latest project,,,,,,, The Bee
The paint is Color Spray enamel from Walmart. It dries to the touch in about 12 minutes in good conditions and rock hard in about 25 minutes. It covers great and even the clear coat dries in about the same time. The paint itself doesnt have the normal fumes, but the clear coat does. Use alot of ventillation for the Clear.
The stripes on the horn always remind me of piano keys. I just decided to break them horizontally to add some character
Thanks for the compliments.
