Ok she is finished Snowblind Guitars #001 affectionatly named Rachel. I tried some new ideas on this one that i have not scene before namly the bolt on/ set neck hybrid. The pick up is a original Bill lawrence XL500 with 2 meg pots the bridge is a Schaller Roller bridge. The tuners are Sprizel.
From the back the body is of black korina

The neck blank which was purple heart for the neck and Satine "Bloodwood" for the fretboard The neck is a complet baseball bat neck Which I personaly love

The template for the headstock. iwas going to use a BC rich style but at the last minute i wanted something more me

The outline for the headstock. Let me tell you cutting that on the band saw was the most stressful thing i have done in ages
Cut out and drilled for the tuners

Hardware installed for the test fit

The volume and tone holes drilled farther back out of the way

Turning down the Purpleheart dowel for the neck setting

I am not a real fan of bolt on necks. I like neck through and set necks to me they sound better. But Some times glued necks are not rigid enough so this is a combo of both. Glued for the sustain and with wood pins for increased strength
The glue setting of the neck.

The setting of the pins

The neck pin system done and sanded

This is me turning down solid brass for the body bridge inserts. I don't like the ones that come with schaller roller ball bridges but I love the bridge. I just tun down new ones and tap them

The finished insert

The knobs are made of Satine. I started out with square stock and turned them to round. then shaped them on the sander and drilled out marker holes. Then Filled them with solder

Next hit em with the torch to melt the solder

Now with a little filling , sanding and polishing...

and a touch of oil

The control cover was made from 2 pieces of 1/8" purple heart glued together (which was a chalange onto itself)

For the
truss rod cover I wanted a snowflake for the logo

I cut it out using a dremel tool. then I coated the cut out part with solder flux and them burned it with the torch. The flux boiled in the cut out part bringing out the red of the satine. I then sanded some of the burn off and completly sanded the edges so it had a red outline and then oiled an d polsihed it
