Beautiful collection.

I like that Astroverb. I don't own one but I've wanked a lot through one- a former acquiantance of mine who is a luthier has the prototype of that amp which he got from Mike years ago- I used to play through it in his shop while this luthier worked on my EBMM. I liked the clean sound much better than the overdrive on that combo... nice and "tweedy". *IMO*, the gain on the proto was no where near the roar of the SLO100, so it wasn't really "shred usable" at low or moderate volumes, but perhaps that changed in the production model or not (maybe that's why you are using the Koch to drive the power stage? ). But the sweetness of the clean/half-drive is really great enough, especially for funk or blues. It has a nice reverb too.

Re: New here, here\'s my gear...

I loooove the distortion. I have the Koch because I live in an apartment and I'm just a little bedroom player... it's a very LOUD 20W, I can only get it up to about 2 with the preamp set on 5 and have it at a reasonable level without the attenuator(I can get it up to 4 or so with the attenuator). Crank that preamp up to 8(of course, volume goes up with that it seems), and you're gettin' pretty nasty, yet smooth distortion. On 11... hope you have your windows boarded up. :-P

Great, great little amp. I might upgrade to a Shiva or something at some point(I know, don't need one, but I'm a gear-fanatic), but my Astroverb isn't going ANYWHERE! I'll have 'er 'till I die.

At the moment, I have:
Preamp: 6
Reverb: 3.5
Bass: 10
Middle: 8
Treble: 3
Volume: 2(Koch isn't hooked up at the moment)
Presence: 0
Nice Santana "Smooth"-esque tone with those. Can't say enough great things about my little amp.

These are wonderful guitars.
How do you like the Larrivee. I hear they are something else when it comes to accoustics.

Re: New here, here\'s my gear...

You've got to try one to believe it... I haven't changed the strings on it in MONTHS and it still gives me chills. I tried mine against a Martin HD-28 when I was in Nashville and walked out of the store laughing... It's just awesome. I'd HIGHLY recommend one to anyone. My Dad just bought one of their 03 Rosewood series and it sounds VERY good, too. Can't go wrong with them, although I don't like their Parlor Series guitars...

Anyway, yeah, awesome. Check one out... won't regret it!

Damn that's nice stuff!! 20 watts seems to be the "sweet spot" for playing at home or out. I have an old 12 watt Fender Priceton Reverb that blows the doors down..
