Well got the GAS again and this was to modify the bejesus out of something relativily cheap.
Ok here is the run down.. Got the guitar today and thank god im planning on doing a new paint job cause I recieved it damaged. Nothing bad just some paint chipping.. Store I ordered from (American Music Supply) compensated me nicely for the problem.
Anyways first step was before I even plugged it in, GET RID OF THOSE PICKUPS. I decided to go old school Satriani with a Dimarzio Fred in the bridge, and a Dimarzio PAF Pro in the neck.
After that surgery was done now to the noodle fest Ibanez has wired up.. The guitar came stock with 2 volumes, 1 tone, and a 3 way. I dont like dual volumes and I never use the tone so I had 2 knobs not doing anything. So instead of not using them I decided the pots will be my coil taps, instead of switches.
I cleaned her out and rewired it like so.
First knob: Master Volume
Second knob: Rotary Coil Tap for the
Neck Pickup
Third knob: Rotary Coil Tap for the
Bridge Pickup
Now with using a Pot for a coil tap versus a switch you also get alot of inbetween tones you cant get otherwise NICE FEATURE of doing it this way.
Anyways she plays fantastic after doing what never got done at the factory like setting the action, intonation, fixing the nut slots, etc etc.
HERES SOME PICS AND A MP3 Sample of the pickups.
(mp3 sample is bridge hum, bridge coil tap, neck hum, neck coil tap)

Things to do, Sand her down and get it ready for some custom paint
thanks
