Posting (uploading) Images - How To
When you post, on the bottom of the page make sure the I want to preview my post and/or attach a file is checked and then click Continue it will then take you to the next page where you can upload your image.

how do you get the image to show IN the post so somebody viewing it doesn't have to click on the image to have it enlarged?

Link it from an external site. So upload your pics onto somethingl ike photobucket or such and then supply the link in your post.

When you are making your post, click on the button under the left, or backwards arrow, that has a picture of a mountain and the sun. Cut and paste your link into the dialog box that opens. That will put your pic in the post rather than just a link.

photobucket is free and it is definately safe to use i've been using it to host my pics for ages now.
There are some that you have to pay for though.
